The Toronto Marlies (2-2-1) play, guess who, the Hamilton Bulldogs (2-2-0) again tonight in their third of 12 meetings this season after splitting their back to back with the Habs’ affiliate last weekend.

Ben Scrivens is back between the pipes after Jussi Rynnas took over for two consecutive last Saturday and Sunday. On the blueline, Paul Ranger returns from injury, while Jesse Blacker and Korbinian Holzer are questionable due to a flu bug. Up front, Jerry D’Amigo returns to the lineup and will play in the place of Greg Scott.

Lines:

Deschamps – Aucoin – McKegg
Ashton – Colborne – Komarov
Hamilton – Kadri – Zigomanis
D’Amigo – Acton – Ryan

I find the +/- stat is way overrated and doesn’t tell the whole story.

A couple of the Bulldog goals that Gardiner and Kostka were on the ice for were scrambles in the crease and they didn’t really do anything wrong on the plays.

Gardiner’s skating was clearly at a higher level than everybody else on the ice and him and Kostka moved the puck with great authority and accurancy.

Aucoin had 3 assists tonight and set up Gardiner beautifully at the blueline for the Marlies’ second goal.

Speaking of setting up beautifullly, maybe I shouldn’t have been so hard on Kadri.  He did lead a nice rush and set Ziggy up with a great feed on his goal.

Gardiner looked especially effective in picking the puck out of scrums along the boards.

The boxscore on the AHL site says Fraser got the hooking penalty, but I’m sure it was Colborne who served the penalty, so I’m guessing they just messed up the paperwork.

Timekeeper probably wrote down 2 instead of 22 by accident.

Speaking of Bulldogs and scrappy, I like the way Zack Stortini plays.

Yea, he definitely needs to work on that part of his game and also needs to work on covering the puck, haha.

Haha, he played a fairly regular shift up until about half way through the 2nd period.

With that being said, I don’t think he saw the ice in the third period or OT.

(BTW, how does one spend 3 minutes in the penalty box)

    No problem.

I gotta admit though, I was sorta hoping Owuya would have gotten the start.
I’m interested in seeing what he has to offer.  By the looks of his numbers last season, he is a very solid goalie.

On another note, with Blacker out of the lineup, I believe Deschamps was quarterbacking the 2nd PP unit with Ranger.

I believe so. Deschamps has not impressed me so far this season. In fact, while we seem to be able to cycle, our PP is very repetitive. Move it across the blue line, take a shot, or move to the half  board, or behind the net, then back to the point for a slapper. I know we are looking for rebounds, but if the PP isn’t mixed up, the D just moves around and is able to nullify the thrust.
