Really exciting night for Leafs fans on a day that was otherwise full of depressing lockout news.

Tonight’s action saw a 4-point performance from Sudbury Wolves forward Josh Leivo (1 goal, 3 assists) who is now scoring at better than a point-per-game pace on one of the weaker offensive teams in the OHL.  Leivo will be taking part in both OHL games during the Subway Super Series so clear your schedule.  He’s been a really determined player this year, has added a lot of strength, and may end up being one of those rare 3rd round selections who has an impact at the NHL level.

Morgan Rielly was his usual dominant self tonight — stripping the puck from opponents at will, creating transition offense for his team, and skating circles around a fairly strong Prince Albert team.  Rielly picked up a pair of assists; one of which was an impressive pass from the blueline to the opposing corner of the crease which led to a one-time goal.  Rielly is now sitting at 18 points in 14 games and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down from his torrid start.

Connor Brown continues to throw points on the board with a hattrick in Erie’s 6-5 loss.  Brown has 17 points in 14 games and at 18 years old, has to be considered one of the statistical surprises of the year among Leafs prospects.  After putting up a green jacket worthy -72 last year, it’s nice to be able to talk about Brown’s stats in a positive way — we’ll see if he can keep it up as the season wears on.

As for the Marlies, we saw single-point efforts from Gardiner, Ashton, McKegg and Kadri in their 5-4 OT win over in Hamilton.  Colborne had a solid game and created some chances but couldn’t get on the scoresheet.  The Marlies’ next game isn’t until Wednesday so it’s all CHL until then, folks.

That’s it for now.  Check me out on Twitter here if you want immediate, in-game info or if you just want to chat hockey.

I have no interest in Win 8.  In fact, I bought a new computer from Dell 3 days ago…for my cottage…while Win 7 is still available.

My laptop came with vista, and I got sick and tired of the cracks on my hacked 7.
No issues so far, found all the drivers on a four year old machine. Pretty cool new look and about 10 gigs lighter than windows 7.

I’m more than happy with Win 7.  Personally, I think Win 8 is going to be a flop for MS.

I read quite a bit about it, and there’s definitely going to be a learning curve compared to any of the others. So far I like it, for $40 I wont cry to hard if it does. lol

I’m not into the whole “touch screen” thing.  I think it’s a dumb concept for desktop systems, which, imo, won’t catch on too quickly.  To me, this is MS trying to prop up their dwindling market share within the tablet/smartphone industries by making touchscreen the platform for Win 8.  From what I understand you can disable the touchscreen feature so that you can use your mouse…but still.  No more start button either (replaced by a start screen).  No thanks…I’ll stick with Windows 7.

No touch screen here you put the mouse in each corner and and different options appear, start screen is for all the apps, from the start screen choose desk top and you get your windows 7 computer from there, seems snappier though. If you can down load an up grade for $14 and just hold onto it I would.

LOL…I refuse to get suckered into Win 8.  Not gonna do it.  Then again, I’m a pothead…so I’m not down with too much change at one time (insert smiley face here).  Time will tell with Win 8.  I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a bit of a backlash though.  It will take awhile for it to filter through society.  XP was fine and 7 wasn’t that big of a departure from XP (imo).  Win 8 is a whole new ball of wax though.  Like I said, time will tell.

I agree with you on going legit.  I have no issues running cracked programs on my system (I know a hacker in Philly who hooks me up with some cool shit).  However, when it comes to an operating system I definitely stay legit.

What is your video card??  Is it an AMD (formerly ATI)??  If so, you can check for driver updates here:

    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx

From there you download the auto-detect thingy and it will tell give you any updates to your drivers to download.  I bought my current home system 18 months ago (with an AMD/ATI video card)…and I updated my drivers yesterday.  I plan to run a check on my new system that I bought from Dell 3 days ago (for my cottage) as I’ve been told that there are often updates made available shortly after a computer is manufactured and before delivery.

Windows 8 getting mixed reviews, a lot of IT guys commenting on how much of a nightmare this will be for productivity and enterprise systems, I don’t see many offices adopting this metro interface, Microsoft should have created a different version of the OS for tablets and touch devices and left the basic windows interface for desktop and non touch devices. Apple does this and it keeps everyone happy.

I agree not sure if it would go on desktops, but being able to run the same software on a tablet could increase productivity on the commute home.

in my opinion Microsoft has shot itself in the foot. I honestly don’t see this software being adopted by many businesses or business professionals. Windows has always been an effective tool to produce content, but Microsoft has taken a very streamline user interface and made it overly complicated in an attempt to cater to an evolving tablet market. Apple has done things right so far, create 2 version of the OS, one maintains the original user interface that’s been used for generations (applying updates and minor UI changes to bring it up to date) and, using the main OS as a platform, created a secondary version of the OS for other devices. They still maintain connectivity and compatibility across both version of the OS while being able to branch out and create portable devices.
