NHL to PA: “Let’s give them something to talk about”

It looks like the NHL and Players Association are ready to resume talks this week (most likely Tuesday), and now we can briefly have hope again.

Certainly, a marathon talk between Bill Daly and Steve Fehr is a good start, and it gives even more reason for optimism that nothing was leaked from this meeting.

Where I lose some of my optimism is in a) the fact that this deal will rely on Jeremy Jacobs’ ability to compromise, and b) we live in a world where players value the opinion of clowns like Allan Walsh.

Neither side is content to reach the compromise we all envision for them, and both sides will need to let go of this “trying to win” philosophy that has cost them a quarter of a seasons revenue.

I’ll cap this rant early, but root for radio silence on both sides (an understandable challenge for the PA with 700+ members).

Sad news. Long time producer Tom McKee died today. He produced Jays on CTV for years and was an excellent commentator on CBC in the 70s. RIP

Something I find funny with Romney is his claim that he has a plan to add 12 million jobs over the next 4 years even though Moody’s Analytics had already said the U.S. will add that number of jobs, “if we just don’t mess with what the president has already done”.          That’s some plan Mitt.   lol

You always say you know he was handed a bad situation, but you refuse to acknowledge the measures he had to take in order to correct that. You also refuse to pass any of the blame onto the Republican House which stymied all of his efforts and basically sabotaged the nation for 4 years.  Romney is a gay-hating, misogynist  hick of epic proportions. Under him you can expect even more American jobs being carted over seas and an even wider gap between the rich and middle class.
    -
Granted, the President – regardless of party or beliefs – doesn’t have much power to stop these things.  Ultimately whoever it is will be a puppet for corporate interests to a large extent and continue to crush the middle class in the name of appeasing the richest people in the world. But at least Obama doesn’t believe in those things, and at least his social agenda isn’t oppressive and antiquated.

Unfortunately I heard this same bs from Obama last time..he predicted millions of jobs when he ran in 2008….didn’t happen though…..25 million unemployed is what he delivered…

He created many jobs.  Most of the lost jobs were still the fallout from the Bush regime.  If you actually explore the cause of the jobs lost and the cause of the jobs created, I’m sure you would be surprised to learn that short of gaining the ability to traverse time, or overthrow the House, Obama was essentially powerless to correct 8 years of the worst management in the history of the country.

No, no one is saying anything like that,  It’s just moronic to conveniently forget everything, and gloss over the way things have happened so you can pin everything on one number.

The problem would be that we know most commentators (not agencies) are not independent or unbiased. Moody’s doesn’t work for either side, openly or covertly.

There may be *something* there. Right now, his stock is pretty low and there are three 1st line centers competing for jobs.

Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Bozak would be a great fit there and, after that, you’d have to sweeten the pot with 1 or 2 more roster players.

The Republicans taking the house didn’t really factor in to his optimism ( no need to address that though – let’s just vote in the party that purposely fucked the country for 4 years to gain your political allegiance).  Not that it matters though, because this whole line of reasoning is absurd – no politician in the modern age has ever sold ‘cautiously optimisitc’ or ‘long term revival’ and been successful, as the people are too stupid to wait that out.  It’s hilarious you want to talk about broken promises as a launching point though, and then promote the GOP, lol.

Do you actually believe Obama isn’t creating jobs?  And how exactly is Romney going to create more?  Explain these things to me, and you’d have the starting of a decent argument.  It can’t be explained though, because Romney himself knows he isn’t going to do it and refuses to explain his plan.  He knows he’s going to continue to sell the country out and hammer the middle class on route to making them pay for his war with Iran.

So what exactly do you hold Obama accountable for over the last 4 years?? Anything??….look at the state of the country…its a disaster…..and honestly…at what point will you start holding him accountable??…year 5??…year 6??..year 7?? I wouldn’t be surprised that after he completes year 8 guys like you will still be blaming the republicans for the mess he’s made….if the president is powerless to change things….what difference does it make who’s running the show??

I believe in researching my opinion and understanding context. You refuse to acknowledge context because it interferes with your partisanship.  Historically, we can pretty much count on the Republicans to fuck things up for the middle class, yet many people keep deluding themselves into believing their lies.  Then, hysterically, when the Dems do get in, you slam them for having to spend 8 years cleaning up a massive mess.  Oh, but we can’t talk about the mess, because that’s not accountability, lol.  What a joke.
