NHL to PA: “Let’s give them something to talk about”

It looks like the NHL and Players Association are ready to resume talks this week (most likely Tuesday), and now we can briefly have hope again.

Certainly, a marathon talk between Bill Daly and Steve Fehr is a good start, and it gives even more reason for optimism that nothing was leaked from this meeting.

Where I lose some of my optimism is in a) the fact that this deal will rely on Jeremy Jacobs’ ability to compromise, and b) we live in a world where players value the opinion of clowns like Allan Walsh.

Neither side is content to reach the compromise we all envision for them, and both sides will need to let go of this “trying to win” philosophy that has cost them a quarter of a seasons revenue.

I’ll cap this rant early, but root for radio silence on both sides (an understandable challenge for the PA with 700+ members).

Lockout will affect World Junior Team Roster
There could be a few more Leafs in the mix if players like Nugent-Hopkins, Huberdeau, D.Hamilton, R.Murphy and Strome weren’t locks for the team.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Garret Sparks eyes Team USA
Sparks is considered by many to be the best bet for the backup job on the junior team. If he has a few more games like the one last Friday, he’ll be a lock.

When George Bush was President, a family was being evicted from their home every 15 seconds.  Again, these little facts that you tend to forget in your quest for bogus accountability.  Most of the garbage you spew about Obama is actually just the leftovers from the last Republican nightmare.  Maybe you should start placing accountability on those who caused the mess – or hell, the House that prolonged them.  You keep refusing to acknowledge these things, but you have no problem dumping EVERYTHING in Obama’s lap.

I have lived in the States for 20 years, in 4 different States. I used to believe the Republican party was the most sensible. Now I am an Independent. I buy into Obama. Please don’t tell me I’m stupid. You can have your view, but I live in the States, I have suffered under the Republican “take away all controls and let Wall Street drive the country into ruin” party. I am not going to argue or debate. If anyone wants to be Andrew R go ahead.

One last thing: I did Google Mitt’s plan, and I attempted to educate myself further to what I already knew about him.  The top links all highlight Mitt’s exceptionally poor plan, and the crap job he did as the Governor.

A real woman is a man’s best friend.
She will never stand him up and never let him down.
She will reassure him when he feels insecure and comfort him after a bad day.
She will inspire him to do things he never thought he could do; to live without fear and forget regret.
She will enable him to express his deepest emotions and give in to his most intimate desires.
    She
will make sure he always feels as though he’s the most handsome man in
the room and will enable him to be the most confident, sexy, seductive
    and invincible…
    No wait…Sorry.
I’m thinking of whiskey…….. It’s whiskey that does all that shit.
    Never mind.

Seems we have skilled play-makers but are short on snipers. Of course we all think that Frattin will help, but if the NHL comes back he will most likely be with the Leafs. Then again, we didn’t win last year on the strength of snipers but were strong defensively. The team needs to tighten up the goals against and survive with some balance and secondary scoring. I’m hoping McKeeg can add some offense to this years team. Think he’s looked pretty good so far.

I agree. I have been surprised at how ineffective the vets have been. We haven’t had our Sheriff type, but I think Leo has done a good job. I certainly hope he does not return to Russia. I have been disappointed that Naz has not lit up the offence with play-making and scoring. I thought he was going to be a Wayne Rooney type. The O has to get going, it has to score. We are not playing to our speed.  Gards is looking real good, and I have been real impressed by Kostka. I hope Ranger hits his form. Colborne is coming round, If we get our intensity back, and our scoring, its going to be a good ride.

Yeah, the defense has contributed  a lot to the offense. Unfortunately for the Marlies when the Leafs start up Gardiner will be gone. Hopefully by then other players will get untracked.
