A Hopeful Tuesday
Share

There might have been a little somethin’ somethin’ crowding your Twitter feed last night, forcing you to miss the updates (or lack thereof.. in this case, possibly a good thing) from the latest round of NHL/NHLPA meetings. No word about what went down, but the negotiating session lasted seven hours and ended with plans to resume talks today (Wednesday).

Considering the last meeting between the two sides took about 10 minutes and preceded two weeks of stalemate, this seems to be a good sign. They’re talking at length, and a process that’s been riddled with posturing has broken for some welcomed silence and secrecy.

Perhaps a few missed paycheques and the cancelation of the Winter Classic has injected the necessary urgency to arrive at an agreement that really isn’t that far out of reach.

Or maybe I’m just brimming with hope after last night.

Wasn’t that a 12- question, multiple choice quiz? I don’t think it was an in- depth study.

Nothing in this post is accurate, lol. I cannot brand anyone an age.  I cannot brand them a skin color.

Research studies at Harvard actually show that right wingers generally tend to have slightly lower I.Q.’s than lefties, but I don’t think that’s what Cameron is getting at.  If your political affiliation doesn’t stand for something distinctive, what’s the point of having one?  And if it’s distinctive on a divisive political issue, it stands to reason it will appeal more to people on one side of that issue than the other (not much point voting if that isn’t true).

If all empirical generalizations were examples of racism or stereotyping, how could we safely generalize about people in this forum being Leafs fans?  (Aren’t Leafs a ‘brand?’)

Which group tends to have a higher level of education:

    a)  Whites or African-Americans;

    b)  Whites or Latinos?

Whites in both cases.  They also tend to do better on I.Q. tests, though not as well as Asians.

Obviously, you couldn’t use this kind of empirical data to support a claim that Barack Obama is unintelligent.  In logic, you can’t deduce the particular from the general.

I believe it doesn’t prove much at all.  It’s Cameron who’s the one that says Republicans TEND to be uneducated but offers no proof.

Give me some f….. credit.  I have no doubt that education levels are directly correlated to socio-ecomomic circumstances which generally tend to favour whites.  Just wanted to show that the “white” party, the Republicans, are no less educated than the Democrats.

It would be pretty tedious to have to cite proof for every statement.  It should be safe enough to say that men are generally taller than women, for example, without having to cite a survey result.

    Sorry.

As for the correlation, is there a causal relation as well?  Which came first, the smarts and the cultural/economic/social capital, or the favourable circumstances?

So if whites are better educated and do better on IQ tests than Blacks or Hispanics..would this mean that the people who tend to vote republican in general are more educated and smarter than the people who tend to vote democrat?? You see …this is a perfect example of how you can twist and misrepresent demograhpic stats and figures to support your views….not only is not accurate…its wrong…
