A Hopeful Tuesday
Share

There might have been a little somethin’ somethin’ crowding your Twitter feed last night, forcing you to miss the updates (or lack thereof.. in this case, possibly a good thing) from the latest round of NHL/NHLPA meetings. No word about what went down, but the negotiating session lasted seven hours and ended with plans to resume talks today (Wednesday).

Considering the last meeting between the two sides took about 10 minutes and preceded two weeks of stalemate, this seems to be a good sign. They’re talking at length, and a process that’s been riddled with posturing has broken for some welcomed silence and secrecy.

Perhaps a few missed paycheques and the cancelation of the Winter Classic has injected the necessary urgency to arrive at an agreement that really isn’t that far out of reach.

Or maybe I’m just brimming with hope after last night.

I don’t know about that, but the Q has done an excellent job on him tonight, and Huberdeau has been the best player on the ice, imo.

those contracts were signed under a system that links income to revenues; I don’t get where they’re not being honored.

I’m putting my money on November 23rd.

That’s Thanksgiving weekend in the States and the NHL was planning on doing a Thanksgiving Triple-Header on the Friday, much like the NFL’s Triple Header on Thanksgiving Thursday.

If they get a deal done by Friday, that gives the teams two weeks to hold imprumpto training camps so they can select their rosters and possibly even play a pre-season game or two.

I guess revenues and profits can be two different things…at the end of the day…I think even though revenues may be up league wide…too many teams are struggling..and too few are making big money..

Because those contracts were signed under the agreement that the players receive 57% of hockey related reveune, not 50% of HRR.

I can hear Fehr already..it will go something like this….like with every negotiation there is give and take…and you don’t come away with everything you want…but I represent the players..and they felt comfortable with this deal so it was not up to me to stand in their way..blah…blah..blah….

So do you think the original full season schedule will remain unchanged?? Meaning they pickup where they can now….

That could create alot of issues..
