A Hopeful Tuesday

There might have been a little somethin’ somethin’ crowding your Twitter feed last night, forcing you to miss the updates (or lack thereof.. in this case, possibly a good thing) from the latest round of NHL/NHLPA meetings. No word about what went down, but the negotiating session lasted seven hours and ended with plans to resume talks today (Wednesday).

Considering the last meeting between the two sides took about 10 minutes and preceded two weeks of stalemate, this seems to be a good sign. They’re talking at length, and a process that’s been riddled with posturing has broken for some welcomed silence and secrecy.

Perhaps a few missed paycheques and the cancelation of the Winter Classic has injected the necessary urgency to arrive at an agreement that really isn’t that far out of reach.

Or maybe I’m just brimming with hope after last night.

    He was amazing. I’m glad the US election is over because at the end of the day I like Americans. I hope they can dust themselves off after a very contentious and brutal partisan campaign and aspire to greatness once again. 
    But I will say this. Watching the US debate and election makes me all the more proud to be a Canadian. We live in a great country. Our biggest concern about our politicians is if he ordered a bus for the high school team he coaches on the side. We educate and take care of all Canadians and always aspire to do so. Some say we may be middle of the road. But I prefer it that way. I like the fact that our biggest concern is the lack of hockey.

     Yea, i know Kelly, i just dont follow him. I just mean there are so many people in the world with info, opinions and insight on this thing that its too much for me to care to try to follow. So i come here to see what you or Rusty or anyone else has posted because between the lot of you – it covers about 6 million twitter accounts and 30 thousand blog sites worth of intel :)

    Kelly’s not on twitter BTW. I get a lot of my info because I mostly follow beat writers and Journalists and what ultimately happens is many of those folks retweet many many others that I don’t follow. Twitter is amazing for that but the dirty side is it can be a vehicle for ever nut case out there to express their views . It can get very nasty at times . It has to be filtered for sure

    We still have Bachman. I’m sure Colbert, Stewart and Maher will all be crying tonight and the rest of the week. And give it 2 years. Both sides have primaries then and it should be very, very ugly. But underneath it all I think that all this new social media has made it harder for stupid opinions to survice the light of day. I’ve never been to Indiana and I may never in my life, but I’m glad Mourdour lost. And the only reason I know is this pervasive news coverage. 
    Even this lockout is getting blanket coverage here on this board. We’re not a news organization  But BB has become the most trusted newsman on this site. I’m more informed reading his posts than reading my own twitter account. We certainly live in interesting times.

    I’m retired McLoki so I have the time to spend at this . Hockey is my passion and I really enjoy passing along as much info as I can. It serves a good purpose for this site as it always stimulates conversation and that keeps the site alive and vibrant

    That’s why Im here. i just wish we were arguing line combos crappy refereeing and how much Healy sucks as a reported and more importantly as a human being. ;-) I kid on the last part. Just let them come to an agreement. announce the start of a season and the retirement of Bettman. I’ll be happy.
