A Hopeful Tuesday
Share

There might have been a little somethin’ somethin’ crowding your Twitter feed last night, forcing you to miss the updates (or lack thereof.. in this case, possibly a good thing) from the latest round of NHL/NHLPA meetings. No word about what went down, but the negotiating session lasted seven hours and ended with plans to resume talks today (Wednesday).

Considering the last meeting between the two sides took about 10 minutes and preceded two weeks of stalemate, this seems to be a good sign. They’re talking at length, and a process that’s been riddled with posturing has broken for some welcomed silence and secrecy.

Perhaps a few missed paycheques and the cancelation of the Winter Classic has injected the necessary urgency to arrive at an agreement that really isn’t that far out of reach.

Or maybe I’m just brimming with hope after last night.

Maybe it was a one time thing, but just look at his shots against, Phoenix ranks right up there with shots against, so, they definitely weren’t a ” GOOD” defensive minded team……so, it was no fluke Smith came out with a .930 Save %…just saying…but you are right, it would be a gamble.

Yes, I know, even though I don’t comment a lot, I read almost every post and a lot of the time is repetitious BS. :)

Hate to disagree… you dont build the middle class or create jobs by debt burdening and lowering average household income.. it needs to grow.

    Proof-  http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/ed14fc70-fc51-11e1-aef9-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2BZ2tcirC

    Lowest household income since 1995…

Secondly- you dont control your own destiny in the long term but destroy a middle class by adding the debt per person over 8 years..  Currently the USA has not only increased their debt to over $16 trillion with expectations to have it over $20 trillion before Obama leaves office but it already owes over $4.45 trillion or quarter of its debt to foreigners…

The average person will owe another $24k each.  Also, the current interest cost of debt is $250 billion.. It will be $375 billion on $20 trillion of debt.. What will it be when the world economies finally grow and interest rates rise??? interest cost alone at say $400-$500 billion.. That would be 20% of current income at current levels.. so say 15-17%.. It is already 10.4% .. Greece is below 20% and will be 20% next year..

Get the picture.. it is the fall of the Roman Empire/USSR… they are fucked if they dont cut expenditures now.

Exactly. If they sin taxed like Canada. Beer, Smokes and now Pot they could raise a ton of new revenue. And if they just delayed their Advanced fighter jet program they could help out several economies worldwide.

Cant raise revenue that much..  total revenue from all individual taxes is only 1.1 trillion.. to get it from individuals you have to double the tax income.. if you take if from the corporates you stuff jobs.. have no employment, no consumers and no sales/taxes.. if you take if from the individuals, no consumer spending and no corporate income.. – raise taxes by max 10%.. .. so that means 18 billion from corporates and 110 billion from individuals.. .. still need to cut spending by over 900 billion..
