Marlies Open Thread
The now-surging Marlies finish up their eight-game road trip tonight in Hamilton before returning for the back half of the home and home against the Bulldogs tomorrow at the Ricoh (tickets). The Marlies finish up the weekend by hosting Abbotsford on Sunday (tickets).
The big news in Marlie land today is that of Matt Frattin‘s return to the lineup after an off-season of rehab following knee surgery. Don’t expect immediate dividends, but Frattin made a mockery of AHL goaltenders in the Marlies Calder Cup run to the tune of 10 goals, his tenth being the play that ended his 2011-12 season. It’s a welcomed addition and a rare case of a player benefiting from this lockout situation – he’ll have time to get his game back in shape before someone else can take his spot on the Leafs.
It’s also a welcomed addition in the sense that the Marlies may soon lose their top goal scoring forward. Leo Komarov, scorer of four goals in his last three games, remains with the organization for now as the Leafs look into whether or not he can both head back to the KHL and return to Toronto to play in the NHL should the lockout end. If it checks out, Komarov will head back to Moscow Dynamo, where he’s played the last three seasons. It’s a loss for the Marlies, but from an individual development standpoint Komarov has proved his point in his brief stint in the AHL to start the season and is probably better off playing against KHL competition for now.
Ben Scrivens goes in net tonight, with Mark Owuya likely to take reigns tomorrow as Rynnas is banged up from practice.

It's the #CalStampeders, pissed the #Argos stole their def coord a year ago, facing that very same Chris jones. Awesome theatre ahead. #CFL
@Waiting4LSC I missed the play so I cant really say. I recall a tweet saying unsportsmanlike's all around though.
Dallas post game interview. Weird comment that Ranger best D-man. I thought Gards was best D-man overall, but DE sees it differently. I guess I need some new blue and white glasses. :)

One thing about Stamps fans...they'll travel for a party. Let the fun begin!
@wiski Koska got a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Seemed strange to me, the Heat player just seemed to jump him and had him in a headlock. Strange end to the game, Fraser and Koska. I do like Fraser's anger. Leo had a good game. Loved the way he crowded the net for Naz's goal.

If you're the Lions fans blowing the noisemakers when we're on offense: STOP. #BCLions #CFL

Major upset brewing in #CFL West final: Stampeders by eight over BC in 3rd Q at Vancouver. Winner plays #Argos in Grey Cup.

So @dallaseakins ended his post game by telling me to get a haircut. Feel free to turn this into a highly debated scandal
Lance Hornby @sunhornby
Joe Colborne's eye was almost swollen shut after a fight in Saturday's game so he was rested today. Should not be an issue next week.
Corey Pronman @coreypronman
Connor McDavid is currently 13th in OHL scoring. In John Tavares's exceptional season he was 27th.
Is Snots around today? Remember this?
"I don't think Burke could even trade Kadri or Colburne now" - Snots, 10 days ago.
For shame.
Kyle Cicerella @KyleTheReporter
Scrivens with 24 saves, Will Acton a goal and an assist as the Marlies blank the Heat 5-0. Kadri picks up 11th point in last five games
