    Isn’t he likely out against the best on the other team and also logging big time minutes which increases his odds of being on the ice when a goal is scored.

    Of course he would, but that’s exactly why it wouldn’t work.  He would have to be completely disassociated from the talks, if any, or it would not work.

    I ‘m pretty sure legislators never intended for those laws to be used as negotiation tactics . Its meant to protect the rank and file from being represented by people they don’t trust or disagree with . Conversely disclaiming interest was probably put in place to allow the leadership to walk away from workers if they so choose to. Problem is its really difficult to change or remove any laws of this nature even if they are being used for something they were never intended to be used for, IMO we are headed for the courts

    Will the owners include Jacobs in this Players-Owners meeting only? I would hope they would have players and non negotiation owners to battle this out. Sort of neutrals trying to redeem an impossible situation.

    What is interesting to me is the owners have not shut the season down, but have invited a new format. Only way I read this is there is a desire by some to have a season.
