Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to you and yours, MLHS. These haven’t been the last few months we envisioned at the site, but this great community will abide and we thank every one who still checks in.

Maybe instead of wasting a Christmas wish on a saved season, wish for Nathan MacKinnon this June.

    Hey I like some of that Humble Pie catalogue as well, although I’m a big fan of his pre/post work too. Hyper-energetic and a big talent.    
       
    Almost impossible to get me interested in anything religion related. Sister Rosetta Tharpe is one of the rarities. A force of nature. Don’t know if you like this stuff, but she was a heck of a talent and an influence on a lot of young rockers.

    I’ve been blasting The Definitive Humble Pie collection for 2 days straight on repeat mode (including while I sleep).  Can’t get enough of Steve Marriott.  Have you ever checked out the Life And Times of Steve Marriott??  VERY cool bio on him with various musicians commenting…video runs around 80 minutes or so.  I’m not that big a fan of his earlier stuff (Small Faces)…as he was only starting to find his groove there and was rather tame.  That Humble Pie stuff though…..look out!!  Dude had a LOT of soul (may he RIP).

    I know what your saying but I guess we will disagree to some extent when it comes to Tin Soldier a favourite from his Small Faces time and a good tune back in the day.

    A friend and I copied each other’s collections the other day. His was around 340 Gig. I have a 3TB hard drive now with almost 700Gig. I’ve been going through his collection and there is some really old and varied stuff.

    I’ve listened to that recently. Are you familiar with Spooky Tooth? I posted a couple of links for Doorman awhile ago. Greg Ridley the bass player with Humble Pie was with them just before the switch. If you haven’t checked out Spooky Two it’s worth it, along with a few other tunes.

    I have come to the conclusion that Steve Marriott was up among the very top frontmen in all of rock.  Up among Freddie, Bon, Jim, Janis, (and I suppose John)…there’s a spot for little Stevie Marriott.  Dude just fucking oozes 70′s bad-ass cool.  The guy could do it all too (sing his ass off, wail some bitchin’ riffs on guitar, blew a mean harmonica, and could pound the skins).   I tell ya, Marriott doesn’t get the respect he deserves.
