As far as what’s been reported, the two sides are having a small group meeting today, which is better than not having a meeting, but the reason behind such an influx of positivity remains unclear as of yet. Can’t extoll enough the virtues of never getting too high or too low in this process, but let’s hope, with just days left before the season’s lost, we’re finally there.

In the meantime, the first-placed Toronto Marlies are back in action at 3 p.m. against the Rockford IceHogs, the Chicago Blackhawks affiliate with an awful name. You can catch the game on Sportsnet One.

Nazem Kadri returns to the lineup after sitting with what was officially labeled as headaches (not sure the C-word was ever used by a member of the organization) caused by the Zach Stortini hit. Korbinian Holzer rotates back in on the blueline, sufficiently recovered from a toe injury. Kadri will slide onto a line with Greg McKegg and Matt Frattin.

Ben Scrivens starts in goal coming off a shutout in which he didn’t break a sweat against Hamilton.

     Need to upgrade at least 4-5 players so be close to anything acceptable.

    Still of the opinion that Burke – with the depth on the Marlies – will have to swing 2 maybe 3  2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deals

    I could stomach these returning. JVR has to fit in there, Frattin on the third line, Kadri on the third as well (do a Seguin number on him, get playing time and confidence challenge him to move up the lines) But its obvious we need two top 6 guys. Maybe we will have to put Kadri temp on the second line and allow Hamilton to come in and make a steady start on the third. But a top line center is a must.
    With a glutt of d-men we should be able to make a trade.
    We have Phaneuf Gunnarsson Liles Franson (RFA) Komi Gardner Holzer with Kostka Aucoin who could do jobs in a shortened season and also the chance of Ranger.
    Should be able to move two, prospect and a pick for somebody half decent

    and Burke as number of good quality d-men and 3rd-4th line forwards at the right price that can be exchanged.

    I believe that the big push will come in the summer. So getting Luongo right now might be too early

    I reckon Komi wil stay.
    I reckon the buyouts will be used on Lombardi and Connoly, they offer us sod all. They just take up roster space but Komi allows us to trade away 2 defencemen without losing experience at the back. I see Komi staying untill Rielly ready.
