It’s more or less official: Leafs vs. Habs on Hockey Night in Canada next Saturday, January 19 to kick off the 2012-13 season. Months-long delay aside, exactly what you expected and exactly how you want it.

Wednesday Morning Leafs Links…

Leafs open the season at the Bell Centre
More leaks about the schedule trickling in as tracked on Twitter by PPP. Could be looking at a 1 p.m. start in Boson on Monday, January 21st for the Leafs’ second game of the season. Also, looks like teams will play two divisional opponents four times and the other two five times.

Concussion likely to delay Gardiner‘s start to the season
Carlyle sounded pretty positive a few days back about Gardiner’s participation in camp, but Eakins says he’s still going through the ups and downs of concussion recovery.

Mike Komisarek Interview from yesterday
Pretty good listen. Komi actually brings up the buyout possibility himself and says it’s fuelling him.

Marlies trying to impress Leaf bosses
Odds and ends from Lancy Hornby.

Leafs hoping Hamilton native Steve Staois has long and productive second career
Staois is now a player development adviser for the Leafs, as you may recall.

The new look Leafs dressing room
Randy Carlyle gives a tour of the redesigned digs in the ACC.

CBA details leave rich and poor teams badly divided
Yep, new CBA doesn’t change that it’s just the seven Canadian markets and a few American ones that are driving revenue growth.

Two issues for the Leafs to settle in camp
One of the smaller points here was a good one: the Marlies being the same city helps because Carlyle can get a better look at more players in an abbreviated camp.

Leafs roster assessment and preview Part II
Michael Langlois previews the forwards.

Maybe he suggested trading for DiPietro……. not to buy him out but to play him?

LOL – about freaking time – took longer then I thought – where are all the clowns who ripped all over me when I told you rogers/bell was going to drop Burke quickly…

now, we finally get to see a proper approach to building a sustainable franchise and can finally say goodbye to the Burke gong show

First reaction: Odds that a Brian Burke firing has anything to do with a difference of opinion on acquiring Roberto Luongo?

Well that would be ownership saying they didnt want to commit to that amount on one player of that age- still has to be more to it.  Maybe they wouldnt agree to his business plan

Nonis is a good hockey man. This definitely means to me that Luongo will be a Leaf. Perhaps Burke didn’t want him and that led to his firing
