I bet you hear a chorus of “Thank you Brian” ring out every once in a while. I’d like to see it after every Kessel, Kadri and Gardiner goal.

One would think that info such as that would become common knowledge at some point through leaks.  If Nonis had any inclination that this was the case…he’d step down (methinks).

Perhaps they did, and they thought they would try to bury it in the excitement of hockey returning.

Is the NHL going to get the show on the road sometime soon or what? What the hell is the hold up?

It’s entirely possible that the owners were trying to find a different GM throughout the lockout, and only ended up hiring Nonis because they hadn’t found anybody by time the lockout ended.

Just liked the way Burkie supports Reims. No guarantees with Reims, but Captain Burkie going down with the ship.

that’s why they gave Burke his “Senior Adviser” role

Possible, but my take is that they wanted Burke to be their voice in the CBA discussions.  Had decided they didn’t want him being the face of the franchise, but knew his relationship with the league would be huge in writing the CBA.  As soon as it’s signed and sealed, he’s out.

I dont care about opinions of non hockey folks.  As for the Zezel situation, its hockey. Players know the deal when they sign up.

Bon: Truthfully, I would suggest it didn;t figure into anything. I would suggest the number of fans protesting with their feet, directly or indirectly, is too small to register.

Sounds to me like there was (and still is) some confusion over this senior adviser role.

Well, if they wait long enough into this year they’ll be able to get an 82 game schedule in afterall.

Seems pretty clear that the vote to oust Burke was 4 (Bell & Rogers) to 2 (Tannenbaum & Lastman.

Did Burke say something to Simmons? I only caught 20 minutes of the presser before I had to leave.

That’s pretty slimey if there is any validity to that move.  So, basically they used him for the CBA and then turfed him.

There is no confusion over the senior adviser role…its a complete smoke screen…..it was a token title handed to Burke to soften the blow…he has no input into hockey operations or the Leafs….any and all contact he has is with Anselmi or the board…and these are the guys who just fired him….Burke will be completely detached from MLSE sooner rather than later…the adviser role is a complete sham..

How does this translate into lost profits?   It doesn’t.  The Leafs are in the forefront right now.  Dominating the hockey news.  The more negativity surrounding this team the more money it makes.  It’s just the way it is here in TO.  And now the news dominates the Leafs…. even more profit.  It’s genius.  Very smart business whether we agree with it or not.
