On Wednesday I joined Michael (from Vintage Leaf Memories) and Matteo (from We Want A Cup) on their Leaf Matters podcast. If you haven’t had a chance to check out their podcast, please do so. Our good friend Curt (Blue Chip Prospects) has been on previously, as well as other notable guests like Pat Quinn, Allan Bester, Joe Bowen, Down Goes Brown, and more.

Some of the topics discussed were:

  • Why the Leafs can’t seem to protect a lead
  • The lack of possession players on the Leafs
  • What Kessel brings to the table when he’s not scoring goals
  • Where Dave Nonis is likely to start adjusting the roster, and where I think he should start.

    I expect Nonis will make a move shortly. With MacArthur due back soon along with Gardiner, the Leafs will have to either make a move or risk losing some players to waivers. It might not be a big move, but I think something is coming

    I would recommend it. Be sure to use cheap wood for.a couple.of “pilot” runs. I had to do some tweaking to a couple of pieces.

    and SJ could reclaim him so who cares if they have to put him on waivers again? wtf does that matter????

    thats just it, we dont know why SJ sent him down,,,,,what if in a week SJ loses a player or two to injury? they could easily reclaim him and have him play with SJ…

    No, I don’t have an in, it’s just my opinion, but the team needs to replace guys like him eventually. SJ obviously has no need or room on the NHL roster for McLaren, so why would they want him back? If they did and they put him back on waivers, the Leafs could just reclaim him again, why bother

    i hope so,,,,but Gards is not exactly lighting it up…..they could always keep him with the marlies for the season or until he gets back to where he was before,,,,,,id expect something to happen aswell but what is the question?

    Dunno…seems very injury prone playing that uber robust style.
    Love the guy,but wear and tear’s taking the toll
    Keon’s right…could see waived to AHL and maybe picked up in transit

    doesn’t seem like they had an immediate role for him there since they put him on waivers, once he clears with us within a 24 hour period hes Marlies property and cant be taken unless hes brought up and sent down once again. Either way, he probably ends up on the islanders if he goes through waivers again lol

    not going to even guess, just that the Leafs are getting a few too many bodies around, something has to give. It will be further complicated if Hamilton sticks, which I doubt. I hope they don’t lose him to waivers going back down
