Not a bad day to be snowed in, with a full lineup of all-Canadian hockey on television. Peterborough is hosting Hockey Day and I may brave the conditions to check out the scene on the Trent Canal.

The road warrior Toronto Maple Leafs (5-1 away) look to replicate their success in the season opener at the Bell Centre tonight. The Leafs should expect a stiffer test as the Habs have gone 6-2-1 since looking awful in that opener and are no longer sans Subban. The two teams are a point apart sitting sixth and seventh in the Eastern Conference standings.

     Getzlaf and Kessel wouldn’t be able to play on a line together…why’s that?

    both guys can score.  both guys can pass.  both can dangle.  can skate. Chinese.

    what’s the argument?  that Kessel skates fast with the puck and Getzlaf slows everything down?
    both want the puck?  not enough puck?
    no one will be in on the forecheck fast enough?  no one will go to the net?

    i don’t think Getzlaf is even realistic, and i don’t know that i care so much about centres when it’s the D i’m stuck on still, but i think some of these would work fine

    I played Jr. A in Brooks AB until 20, wasn’t good enough to play in the dub, Lanny and Lysiak were much better LOL, but I don’t drink, thanks for the offer though!

    Sorry for the late reply, I was thinking that he fits in as a 1C.  I like Bozak, Grabbo and Kadri but Most of them are 2nd or 3rd C’s. Not sure where Joe will max out, but I don’t expect him to be ready for 1C for at least a couple of years, if he becomes one at all.

    Getzlaf plays a grind game. Down low on the boards. It’s why he is great with Perry.

    if bozal leaves then i would like Weiss, but man where would he fit. Kadri needs mins to develop IMO

    IMO, Kessel carries the puck too much, maybe because he has to with Bozak, I don’t know, but Mike Bossy wouldn’t have scored 10 goals without Trottier carrying the puck and setting him up, Kessel could score 50 every year with the right center and him only be the shooter.

    when did he stop scoring?  i’ve seen him snap home a lot of beauties from tight spaces in the past.  i’d say he’s a better passer, but if Kessel’s setting him up with all those same chances Bozak’s been getting the last few years, Getzlaf would finish a lot of them off i have no doubt.

    why won’t they work?

    I definately agree with that. kessel is at his best when he has an on the stick off the stick opportunity. not a carry it in and turn and make your own space kind of player
