Saturday Morning HDIC Links
Share

Not a bad day to be snowed in, with a full lineup of all-Canadian hockey on television. Peterborough is hosting Hockey Day and I may brave the conditions to check out the scene on the Trent Canal.

The road warrior Toronto Maple Leafs (5-1 away) look to replicate their success in the season opener at the Bell Centre tonight. The Leafs should expect a stiffer test as the Habs have gone 6-2-1 since looking awful in that opener and are no longer sans Subban. The two teams are a point apart sitting sixth and seventh in the Eastern Conference standings.

A few quick links this morning…

Korbinian Holzer impressing teammates and coaches
Carlyle leaned on Holzer for 23:41 and gave Liles over 20 minutes in the Leafs’ 3-2 win over Winnipeg. Kostka dipped below 20 minutes.

Leafs-Habs preview from NHL.com

Phaneuf knows his numbers are offensive
Dion needs to be part of the solution on the PP and the points will come. Thought he played an excellent game vs. Winnipeg.

I think their style of play is different … maybe all of those lines will work but i think JVR and Lupul would look better and perform better on his wing … it’s not a knock on Kessel

to be fair, there aren’t more than a handful of guys in the league right now who are as good as Trottier … so of course that would make a great 1-2

No….Kessel isn’t going anywhere and if Perry wants to be a Leaf, he can hold out and go to market….plenty of money to sign him, if he wants to be a Leaf.

I agree, Colborne has still been hitting growth spurts over the past 2 years and will take a little longer than others due to adjusting to his body. I’m still upset that the organization let him play through that injury of his. I think it forced him to alter his game to compensate for the injury and he developed some bad habits. But, you can’t give up on a young center with that kind of size and great hands

i think you’re confusing what Kessel commonly does with what he’s capable of.  he was able to find Lupul a lot last year, after creating space and making nice passes.  Lupul’s a smart player with a nose for the net.
even Kadri has to move the puck quickly and he’s as slippery as they come (that we get to see).

    fair enough.
i asked you because HH is just always right.  just wanted to hear what you thought.
edit: and you could have knocked Kessel, point is you think the other lines better

On the Isles pre-game show, they were saying that the Leafs had a few scouts in Long Island to watch L. Visnovsky play tonight.  Garth Snow is open to trading him now that he has returned to the team. Supposedly Randy Carlyle loved him when he played in Anaheim when he played 24 min/night and scored 68 points in 2011.  However, Edmonton also has scouts at the game and appear to be the front runners.

everything I see in starting goalies is showing Price.
Price isn’t a Leaf killer..Leafs have won last 4/5 at Bell.
