The 9-6-0 Toronto Maple Leafs kick off their first of two games in Florida tonight vs. the 4-6-4 Panthers, who have lost their last three games in OT. The Panthers are once again awful after looking like a legit team again last year, currently sitting dead last in the NHL in goals against per game and not a whole lot higher (25th) in goals scored per game.

The last time the Maple Leafs were in Miami… March of 2012, they were thoroughly routed 5-2. In that game, how Tim Connolly managed to finish -3 with only 11:38 of ice time in that game I will never know… although his new AHL career seems to explain it.

Coming off a strong game vs. those grieving Ottawa Senators, if Toronto can deliver the same physical, high pressure game they have in 3 of the last 4, with Scrivens continuing to deliver in Reimer‘s absence, another road win is in the cards.

    I’d like Kadri to continue his more sheltered minutes and develop. I’d like to see Kessel with a guy that has some true speed that could play the game with Kessel at top speed. AND honestly, I want a guy that can score. I don’t want a guy that spends the whole night trying to set up/feed Kessel. Kessel is a wicked passer. I think a guy that can score when Kessel feeds him will scare the shit out of opponents. They won’t know who to cover.

    Everyone compares Leo to Tikkanen, but I cant recall Tikkanen taking the body as consistently as Leo

    Of course. He has his issues, but he’s getting results, and Rynnas hasn’t been all that great even in the AHL lately.

    Rynaas hasn’t been ass impressive lately so I kinda think its Scrivens and Liles back in for Gunnar. After that much time off no point in Gunnar going back to back.

    Another pretty solid effort, better than the last two. They started each period quite slow, but managed to pick it up and get the win. 

    Too much being made of the number of shots the Leafs are giving up, again tonight many of them came from 30-40 feet out with no traffic, NHL goalies are supposed to make those saves… correct? This has been going on since the Montreal game, teams just trying to get anything to the net, because they are having a hard time gaining the middle of the ice.

    Sure I’d like him. Who wouldn’t but I’m open to other ideas. Was trying to watch Weiss a lot tonight but that team is so bad right now it was hard for me to get a read on him. Having said that, he did strike some fear into me each time he was on the ice.

    If you do the torrent thing i “hear”/ recommend searching up ccleaner lolll. Thing makes any computer like 5x faster after running it (takes like 10 seconds to download and10 seconds to clean the hard drive.) Its personally my favorite tool fitter keeping my computer fresh.

    most certainly the defensive system is giving the young goalies a fighting chance but the goalies are also keeping us in games making the saves they need to make. Both ben and james are playing the way that suites them best….st croix is most certainly helping but their natural talents are shining through right now
