We sure that was Grabovski? lol, sounded like here was a little French accent in there. Pardon my French
I love your passion, Grabovski. All the best kid
Not really feeling sorry for Grabo, it was business not personal. Even when playing to his potential he wasn't worth 5.5 mil a year. With a lower cap it had to be done, I have a feeling that today the leafs sign Sceduri and another forward just hope they don't over pay. But a big trade is happing soon for a center I believe with a couple a defenseman becoming available with Sceduri coming in (well if he comes in)
I wonder if maybe Nonis isn't planning on bringing in another C, and will go with Kadri & Colborne on the offensive lines and Bolland & McClement for the defensive lines. Can't see Colborne as ready yet, but being thrown into the fire is certainly one way to learn
Personally Im ok with Grabos rant and dont see it as anything a future team should be worried about. This is a long way from doing a Heatley.
He was loyal, kept his mouth shut BUT was an obvious out the door guy the minute he signed the contract. I would go as far as saying the Leafs signed him to the contract believing after being offered a 1st round pick for him that even with 5.5 he was moveable. Its just the cap hit came down further than any were expecting.
Its Grabos wedding today - of course his angry and bitter - hes made a life for himself in Toronto and now hes going to be moved to a city far from his wedding town in a matter of weeks. His wife must be absolutely livid. All their friends that they have made here that are at the ceremony will now become pen pals. He on his wedding day has to now face other leafs players coming to the ceremony patting him on the back to consoul him rather than congratulate.
Burke had a thing of closing the trade window over christmas to allow families to relax over christmas which was a nice touch. Nonis has shown himself to be a bit of a dick here even going as far only a day or two ago that they wouldnt be exercising the right to use the second buyout.And for that matter, even though Im not a Grabo fan, I see his anger and he is fully justified to be angry at the top of the Leafs hierarchy that handled this like thoughtless amateurs.
Every one expects Leafs to be busy on the UFA front today,don't be surprised if they get new deals for RFAs McLaren,Colborne and Bernier.
Honestly, there a probably few of us who agreed with Carlyle's decisions over the course of the season, I for one was critical after the game 7 fiasco. However, if there is one thing in life you should never do, is burn your bridges. It's much better to go out with your head held high and a steadfast determination to prove your detractors wrong down the road.
Grabovski's rant was obviously born out of a pent up frustration and disbelief that would have to uproot his family and start over someplace else, but I can't help thinking of the Grabovski he heard about when he came from Montreal. He needs to take the experience and ability he has gained on the ice and apply to how he conducts himself off the ice, in certain situations.
In closing, I am not sure what the point of this blog really is. If the intention is to draw people in for more hits and to polarize, then well done, MLHS has joined the ranks and sunk as low as the MSM, even for
@Loric76 Legion of Doom 2.0
@Zeus_WilliamMapleLeafs You want a player to be pissed in this situation. He's not thinking about the money he just made, he's think, "they're wrong, shouldn't have done this to me and I'm pissed". I have no problem with it at all. He's just like he is on the ice, feisty and furious.
@Zeus_WilliamMapleLeafs On the other hand this case could serve for the players and their agents to not overrate themselves. Ask Redden if he would sign the contract again. Grabo is kind of lucky, he can choose his next path.
What was Nonis supposed to do?...he didn't set the deadline date
Maybe Grabo should have selected a more NHL calendar friendly date
@GeorgeCastanza Simmons should switch to writing horror, leave sports alone.
@Loric76 Love it, is that real?
Hey MB..lots of similar minds in here this AM
Won't last long ;)
@-Keon- I haven't like a Leaf coach since Burns. Wilson was the worse. I like the way Charlye handled Kadri and Lupul.
@-Keon- Yea, Grabo should have waited before answering phone calls...he is a good guy.
There is that risk that you price yourself out of your own future but I think in this instance maybe it could have been handled differently. I realise this is hockey and tough decision are part and parcel of it but it has to hurt Grabo and Im ok with his outburst. Of course Im ok with Nonis for doing this as well, his job is to make these tough decisions and make the Leafs better but I think Grabo should have been brought to one side and said there is a real possibility that if we dont get a good deal for you then we will buy you out. Dont spring it on him the night before his wedding. Why does his wife have to stand there and know that in her husbands mind he isnt happy rather seithing with rage. It ruins the day not just for him but the looking back on memories. It was just handled wrong.
A wedding is planned of this scale a year in advance, non of us knew if there was going to be any hockey a year ago. He did all he could do, he signed a big contract for multiple years and in the end hes been Jeff Cartered.
Like I said below, I dont blame Nonis he just should have handled it differently thats all. Shows sod all class.
@ShotgunCharlie Bite your tongue. Only Shannon thinks it still might happen.
@ShotgunCharlie For Seguin?
@ShotgunCharlie I am truly hoping for a quiet day, the ONLY Free agent I would like signed would be maybe Scuderi
@-Keon- I is smarter than I seem.
@-Keon- True that.
Never would with that guy...tried too hard to be outside box/smartest guy in room and his resulting theories don't wash in the bigs.
# legend in his own mind.
