The Toronto Maple Leafs vs The Montreal Canadiens. One of the longest, fiercest rivalries in all of sport and the biggest in the National Hockey League. As always, both teams have a lot to prove. Both were said to have aberrations of seasons in 2012-2013. The Leafs rode unsustainably high shooting percentages and out-worldly goaltending. The Canadiens were a fancystats wet dream—high possession numbers—a good coach, solid defense and goaltending. Gamewatchers see a Habs team with a bad makeup, a lack of talent and size up front, where you need to be best.
The Maple Leafs, as we heard ad nauseum, were one of the worst possession teams in the league, and defied advanced statistics predictive nature by scoring off the rush—usually on odd man rushes—and with little-to-no zone time at all, using their now trademark quick-strike offense to put up big offensive numbers. The Maple Leafs have gained the reputation as the fastest team in the league and look to exploit weaknesses in transition play against teams that are caught napping.
If we are certain of anything, this will be a black and blue hockey game, full of fistacuffs and with emotions running high.

Ashton has to learn how to defend hiemslf, Tinordi is a tin man, one punch and he will go down, I saw him get destroyed by a 5'10 guy in London, he is soft, can't take a punch.
Carlyle doesn't seem to upset about the 3rd goal. Said mistakes happen ,we just wanted to keep the fans in the building lol
First game of the season and Leafs go into Habbieland.....beat up on them and win the game. It's a team game and we won.....doesn't have to be pretty...we got the two points and that's what matters.....No worries or complaints here....GO LEAFS GO!!! :) Be back...gonna have a puff to celebrate the win.
Montreal have to go to the league next year and beg them not to play the Leafs opening game. We always seem to take someone down, tonight there were 2 players plus the win. Taste so good lol
After 20+ games, the Leafs bury the Habs if the game is anything like tonight. A lot of missed opportunities to score. Patience for this team to get it all together and nobody will be disappointed.
Hopefully Parros is not hurt seriously.
This gam was the reason I think the management dont have much faith in Reimer. He had a great game but just cant seem to make that high pressure save like Price did a bunch to keep it close. Bitch at me all you like but its true, Gardiners fault but it would be nice to have a goalie who makes those saves more then often (like in game 7 Bos)
@ingy56 Where's this Edmonton dynasty we were all told about?
@wiski I just dont get how you sit a young player for making a few mistakes. ALL young players make mistakes. Even veterans make mistakes. I watched Franson make 3 passes in a row in the 3rd that all went to the stick of the Habs players. These things happen. Too many people ready to jump all over Gardiner who is a very exceptional talent. Give it a rest.
@wiski Ranger was worse. Much worse. Carlyle is killing Jake's buzz (even though he needs work)
@TOHockeyNut guy rang the post at the end, love his size and speed
@wendelsway1 The one ace in the hole for the Habs was Parros and now he's down and out, they're the lowly Smurfs again. Toughness is not just one fighter, it's through the the entire system/organization. Habs learned that the hard way tonight. No surprise.
@wendelsway1 Say hi to your neighbour for us all tomorrow!
@wendelsway1 best type of smoke... leafs win smoke
@DJBrianBurke and Markov still hasnt had his yearly ACL tear..
@reenergized ...and see Laviolette pop a vein.
@Burtonboy Lol love this guy.
@LeafsForLife That last PP was nasty, the passes they were trying, between the legs to the opposite side, oh man. Once the PP starts clicking look out.
@Shift_Disturber1 thats what i thought
@DWCMLHS our best D hands down, Dion and Fraser good as well
@Jordan29 I have to agree, that 3rd goal went short side, Eller was not going to get around. He needs to stand his ground. But he won, so what do I know lol
@Jordan29 who won?
I agree wity you dude
@Gerg3d no shit
