James van Riemsdyk is expected to sit again tonight. His back spasms still haven’t let up despite two treatments today, and the Leafs training staff is hesitant to risk a setback.
The Leafs have four players in the lineup at forward who no one would’ve penciled in prior to the season, but they’re finding ways to win and currently sit top 5 in goals for, powerplay, and shooting percentage. They’re top 10 in goals against, and top five in penalty killing and team save percentage.
Let’s keep this train rolling.
GO LEAFS GO.

Cam Ward is expected to start for the Hurricanes. Ward is apparently playing with extra motivation after his Team Canada snub, but there is not going to be room with both Reimer and Bernier going to Sochi.
the odd thing is that everyone is so quick to point out this loss in terms of our previously poor puck possession game, when in reality, we lost this game off a fluke tip and even more fluke botched icing that wouldn't even have been considered a shot on goal. Not trying to justify our play, but I dont believe a lack of puck possession or a poor forecheck was the reason we lost tonight.
First thing this morning I was commenting that we weren't playing with the same speed as last year or physical play. Orr had just over 3 minutes of icetime. Should we even bother bringing out the 4th line for the last 2 periods?
Some good news is that Columbus has come back from 3-0 and tied their game up with the habnots.
And NJ is losing 3-2 from trailing 3-0.
Leafs need to win faceoffs, I know this is a recording, but they lost at least 8 straight starting at the Kardi penalty. Not sure they won more than 5 in the 3rd. They need to seriously work on that. It's beyond frustrating.
If we play that way against Chicago we have zero chance LoL same with Anaheim... this could turn to 6-4 quickly
According to corsi and the other advanced numbers it was predictable that Bernier would put that puck in off his skate because of the amount of possession he has on his stick...Fuck Corsi!
@rustynail just about to do that
@Loric76 Yep keep getting an error
@Burtonboy Right, the ol' "neck injury" where have I heard that before?
You mean the Refs are finally going to wake up and start calling the game right? I highly doubt it...
@DJBrianBurke Kadri and Smith were only centers above 50%
I think this is a flaw in the personnel ... they've been working on this for years
From Bernier's point of view he sees a ref with his hand up and replay clearly shows that Rielly would have touched the puck first. So he thought it would have been called an icing.
I agree. the Refs always find ways to make it harder on the Leafs
@Loric76 Reminded of me of 1993 game 6. Even had the meetings of officials and refs. Pathetic.
@TheCanucksnaphook Remember as they alwasy say 'the calls work themselves out over the coarse of a season' but they cut that sentence off too short, it goes on the say 'because everyone plays the Leafs'.
How did we not deserve it?
@wiski yeah, exactly right. I'm hoping that with the return of JVR, Clarkson and Kulemin we can push some of these AHL amateurs back outta the lineup. That should improve the team a bit.
@GreekGod It's Carolina, they will get the calls and breaks unfortunately.
@mcloki bolland has something up his sleeve for them dw
