Home Game Day GDT: Maple Leafs at Minnesota Wild (7:30 p.m., TSN)

GDT: Maple Leafs at Minnesota Wild (7:30 p.m., TSN)

1308

Jonathan Bernier starts for the Leafs, Niklas Backstrom for the Wild (could be a break for the Leafs; he’s 1-1-2 with 3.42 GAA & .871sv%).

GO LEAFS GO.

The following projected lines are based on this tweet:

These are different than the practice lines, which followed the units Carlyle blended together in the 2nd period vs. Boston (Raymond – JvR – Kessel; Lupul – Kadri – Kulemin; Ashton – McClement – Clarkson). We’ll update when there’s confirmation.

Lines: Leafs vs. Wild, November 13, 2013.

Dan Tencer @dantencer 5m

4 wins in 20 games. Shut out 3 straight times on home ice. This core group of players isn't going to give their GM any choice...

Carlyle on Kadri hit on Granlund: "It’s beyond me the 5-minute major ... He made initial contact w the shoulder & the kid had his head down"

For those that might be a little stressed after this game and in need of a laugh…An Islanders fan on another site has suggested  that since the Leafs need a centre and Islanders need D a Strome for Rielly and Gardiner trade would be good. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…….Good night everyone.

Ok...........the WIld had 26 shots total EV strength, Coyle himself had but 1 shot all game. 1 and logged 15:52 of ice time. Even if he was on the ice for every shot of Parise (6), Suter (4), Neiderreiter (4) Spurgeon (3) it only adds up to 17 shots. Parise and Suter and Spurgeon totalled 4 shots on the PP so that would make 13. Unless nobody from Minny took a shot until Coyle was playing with them.  I think this tweet is BS

Not sure where they got their numbers

Justin Bourne @jtbourne 3m

Seems like it might be a thing? RT @Kent_Wilson: Holy cow. The Wild outshot the Leafs 21-2 with Coyle on the ice tonight. At even strength.

BTW…Rielly on the left point on the PP = better than Dion on the left point on PP. Rielly is much quicker at corralling the puck off the boards or from a pass back to the point and quickly getting it across to the right side Dman. Doesn't give the PKers as much time to set up.

The most disgusting moment of tonight's match was learning Mike Johnston is part of the Leafs alumni game

If this is the product the NHL is going to continue to promote then I need to seriously reconsider if I will continue to support it any way. This is pure and simple garbage.

Well, I'm off to bed, but 4 points:

-

1.) I don't think either Kadri hit is suspension worthy

2.) I think Kadri will be suspended at least 2 games regardless

3.) I understand it more if they focus on the goalie hit, though still disagree.

4.) If Nonis has any centers lined up, he should probably be getting ready to pull the trigger.  It is clear that our roster is a mess without centers. We cannot afford to risk going down more centers.

Fack me

I was thoroughly enjoying watching the Leafs shut down and crush the Minnesota Christmas Elves this evening for 56 minutes tonight...what a let down

Steaks are on Phil

Kadri basically to Granlund what Chara does to everyone every night.  HIt a much smaller player and may have contacted the head inadvertently as a result. Not sure why the Chara excuse doesn't apply.  Where is TSN with the list of excuses!?!?

Question…Kadri was given a 5 minute match penalty not a 5 minute major. Does a match penalty carry an automatic 1 game suspension?

As good as Kessel is (and as much as I love him as a Leafer)....he sucks for shootouts.  I'd have put Kadri in instead.

Correction..most disgusting moment of the season

How that smarmy, little cup of coffee prick got picked over the vast collection of legends is beyond me.

What,was Rocky Saginuk busy?

I feel the same way often...just never bet on it

It was a joke tonight....again.

Anybody who thinks officiating doesn't affect the outcomes of games is dead wrong

@Cameron19 Just watched the replay and have read all posts here. Granlund hit, meh, that hit is not a match. Player needs to protect himself better. Hit on Backstrom was Kadri's fault though. He made very little effort to miss Backstrom and he is going to pay for it, 2 games is my guess. Shit we are on a bad injury  - suspension run.

Uncle Otis

@Cameron19

I have seen Shanahan say many times that when the body is contacted in concert with the head that it is a perfectly legal check.

Kadri's was textbook.

The goalie one might get him a game or two...he's not a Hab afterall.

@Wilbur I imagine the match penalty will be over ruled tomorrow, they often do that based on video evidence

rustynail

@Wilbur 21.1 Match Penalty - A match penalty involves the suspension of a player for the balance of the game and the offender shall be ordered to the dressing room immediately.

A match penalty shall be imposed on any player who deliberately attempts to injure or who deliberately injures an opponent in any manner.

21.2 Short-handed - A substitute player is permitted to replace the penalized player after five (5) minutes playing time has elapsed.

The match penalty, plus any additional penalties, shall be served by a player (excluding a goalkeeper) to be designated by the Manager or Coach of the offending team through the playing Captain, such player to take his place in the penalty box immediately.

For all match penalties, regardless of when imposed, or prescribed additional penalties, a total of ten minutes shall be charged in the records against the offending player.

In addition to the match penalty, the player shall be automatically suspended from further competition until the Commissioner has ruled on the issue. See also Rule 29 – Supplementary Discipline.

21.3 Reports - The Referee is required to report all match penalties and the surrounding circumstances to the Commissioner of the League immediately following the game in which they occur.

@Wilbur Actually I believe that is suspended indefinitely pending a hearing

@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan It's quite possible if not for that bogus call that we have Kadri as an option for the final 11 minutes of the 3rd and maybe the game doesn't get to OT or a SO
