The Maple Leafs look to even the season series in a “should mean 2 points” meeting against the 27th-place Florida Panthers. A win would give the Leafs eight victories and an OT loss in their last 10.
The first game featured some spells of brutal hockey by this team in a 3-1 loss, but interestingly that was one of only nine games (out of 55) in which the Leafs outshot their opponent (29-23). An early goal against (Fleischmann, after the Kadri turnover and bad Phaneuf pinch) maybe altered the course of the game as far as the shot count went.
Revisit the game in six and it is apparent even in the abbreviated version how messy of a game the Leafs played last time out versus the Panthers:
Scott Clemmensen was also sharp in turning away 28 of 29 shots. Clemmensen’s only played one game this month, but head coach Peter Horacheck seems aware of his history against the Leafs (.943 save percentage over six games) as he will start again tonight. Jonathan Bernier will mind the nets for the Leafs.
It just seems like a Leafs thing to do to light up an assemblage of goalies that includes Rask, Price, Bishop, Miller and Varlamov before getting stonewalled by Scott Clemmensen. Let’s hope the Leafs make Clemmensen look like the career backup he is, for once, en route to two points.
The Leafs should remember that going down 3-0 by the early third against this team, on home ice, was pretty embarrassing. That should negate any chance of underestimating this Panthers team tonight.
No lineup changes are anticipated from Tuesday’s win over Tampa Bay.

Interesting patterns of results against Florida in the past few seasons. In 2011-12, the Leafs were swept in the season series, conceding five goals in each of four meetings (combined score of 20-9 Florida). Last season, the Leafs swept the Panthers with three wins and a combined score of 10-2.

My friend just got home from visiting his Mom from Winnipeg, and brought me some chicken Roti :)
It is the perfect pre game meal :D
Ha! Not even an hour after we discussed the possibility the trade of Parenteau was possibly for Subban, Hockey Insiderr posts:
@HockeyyInsiderr: #BREAKINGNEWS The #Avs and #Habs discussions have elevated to a different level. Names I hear mentioned are PK Subban and Mackinnon now." Good to know he reads MLHS.
Sorry for the Hab content but just wanted to use this point to show how great we have it here with Alec and team...
A hockey writer for the Denver post said today that the Habs and Col deal for Patenteau would be for Subban and that PK would then be signed for 6M a year!
Can you believe that even went to print?
5-0 Leafs!!! Kadri with the hatty!!! Oh wait, Doorman beat me to it....Okay, 4-2 Leafs, Gardiner with the winner.
And while he's too humble to admit it, I know for a fact Gardiner has saved countless lives through humanitarian efforts.
@Doorman I think he may have taken him ice fishing. Sent him down the hole for a quick look-see.
@Doorman dont know dont really care. I have enough people on this site i like to worry about a few who dont like me :)
@LN-093 I hear now that Jake Gardner could be the prime piece moving West for MacKinnon, ROR and Duchene.
@Pent_House Honesthockey is being counter trolled.
Actually it said Parentau plus prospects or picks, plural in both cases.. And it didn't say he would then be signed for $6 million. It said next season PK Subban is a free agent and would command a salary in excess of $6 million.
@Alec Brownscombe way to high IMO, but ya I dont think I would trade him for anything less then an over payment. Too much potential we dont have coming up the system. I think Rielly is more of a complete guy where Gardiner will be pure offence
@wiski Intense, thanks for posting. Hoping the Leafs play with that intensity tonight.
@Burtonboy See we are wining after RC promoted Franson, so there everyone lol :)
@Burtonboy We'd be undefeated if Franson was gone....but we'd be better.
