Home Morning Mashup Thursday Mashup: Florida Panthers Tonight

Thursday Mashup: Florida Panthers Tonight

323

Good game day, Leafs fans! After a day off to bask in the glory of beating Tampa Bay Tuesday night, the Leafs are back in action this evening as they host the Florida Panthers. Looking at the bottom 3 teams in the East: the Leafs already lost to these Panthers in December, they’re 1-1 against the Islanders, and the Sabres took six points out of five meetings with the Leafs. There has been no such thing as an easy out for the Leafs this season and as such there should be no reason to take this Panther team lightly. While they most recently got smacked by the Bruins 6-2, the Panthers also put up five goals each in two wins over Detroit and Pittsburgh in the past ten days.

NHL Conditioning Assignment Rules

13.8 Conditioning Loan. Unless a Player consents, he shall not be Loaned on a Conditioning Loan to a minor league club. Such Conditioning Loan shall not extend for more than fourteen (14) consecutive days. The Commissioner may take whatever steps he deems necessary to investigate the circumstances under which a Player is Loaned on a Conditioning Loan. If the Commissioner has reason to believe or determines that the Club has used the Conditioning Loan to evade the Re-Entry Waivers, or otherwise Circumvent any provision of this Agreement, he may take such disciplinary action against the Club, as he deems appropriate. The Player shall continue, during the period of such Conditioning Loan, to receive the same Paragraph 1 NHL Salary, and be entitled to the same benefits, that he would have received had he continued to play with the Club.

Players have to agree to it. The team can't just send them.

@Xxxxxnew I think Bolland would agree with it. Been out a long time now

@Xxxxxnew I did not know that. Interesting. I think most players would agree if their teams wanted it but I'm sure a lot of guys have blocked them too

@Yaknowwhat @Mind Bomb Fair point. He can just practice as well with the Marlies but maybe the Leafs will have an open skate program that will be just as good over the break

@MikeGartner11 @Mind Bomb Aye thats what I am refering to, I wonder though if he has to be activated from IR in order to assign him to the Marlies, so he will have to be cleared before the Break

@4evrblue @Mind Bomb 100 percent but so should have Fraser with his Knee, we would have at least known he was not ready for the NHl again.

@4evrblue Bolland didn't take any conditioning stints with Chicago. Just played when he was ready.

I'm not sure I'd feel like getting on a bus to Utica, Hershey and Albany for 15 minutes of ice time if I could be back practicing with my teammates.

@Mind Bomb @MikeGartner11 Right they will need to take him off IR and make that move before the Olympic break. I think they would do that even if he isn't ready for an AHL game until the third week of the break.
