Maple Leafs recall Greg McKegg

1984

The Maple Leafs have reportedly recalled 2010 third round pick Greg McKegg from the Toronto Marlies. This appears to be an insurance policy for tomorrow’s game vs. the Senators in case Peter Holland can’t go, as he was nursing a minor injury from yesterday’s win over Florida.

James van Riemsdyk and Carter Ashton are also banged up at the moment.

Greg McKegg has been centering the Marlies’ top line for most of the season and has quietly compiled an impressive 26 points in 35 games, recently stringing together a seven-game point streak in the month of January. He could make his NHL debut if Holland can’t play, but the call up at the very least rewards McKegg with his first NHL payday.

If they can't score in this period, it will be 3 goals in 6 games for LA.

@wiski  I'll miss these montages if they ever get rid of HNIC in favour of whatever abortion Sportsnet decides to put on Saturday nights...gonna be slow motion cuts of Kypreos' jawline while Nickelback plays in the background

@wiski  The song they're gonna play is called "Loneliest Lion"...seems appropriate with the mask

@wiski @Cameron19  It's not like it's a rare stretch of scoreless play for them, either.  They were terrible at scoring, even the year they won the Cup.

@Cameron19 @Loric76  He will. The only Dmen worth keeping on that team are, J. Schultz who is still working out his game and Petry who I kinda like his game but still young. I guess Ference but he needs to be a 4-5 guy not a 1-3 guy

@Loric76 @Gilbey93 @Cameron19  Really? I think our bottom six is pretty good if they could get healthy at some point this year. Plus our D, If guys like Gardinar and Franson play like they did last playoffs. I see no problem. In the east there is one good team. The rest are no different then us.

@Loric76 @Gilbey93 @Cameron19  I think any time you make the playoffs theres a chance. All you need is a hot goalie(which is possible) and some timely goals(which we have almost every game)

@Gilbey93 @Loric76 @Cameron19  I have been since the season started, everyone else is finally jumping on the bandwagon :)

He's not a bad player, but I saw him as a trade chip signing at most.  We're not going to give him the raise he'll want next year, and with his cheap cap hit teams making a run for the cup that are tight to the cap will overpay.  Cheap scoring depth with vet experience.

@Cameron19 @Gilbey93 @mike_84  Having said that guys like Richards, Brown, Kopitar even guys like Nolan and lewis are big strong guys you want grinding it out in the playoffs for you.

@Gilbey93 @mike_84 @Cameron19  Richards and Carter are insanely over-rated, I find almost especially by Leaf fans ( I guess cuz they saw a bit of Doug Gilmour in Richards). And Brown has been just terrible.
