Will the Maple Leafs stick at eight? Who will they pick at 8? Will they move an RFA to grab another pick or two for tomorrow? Could we see something more earth-shattering? We’ll find out over the course of the next 12 hours.
The rumours are aplenty. Jason Spezza (in an apparent acquire-and-flip scenario, past tense, according to Bob McKenzie), Milan Michalek and Martin Brodeur are some of the names getting batted around the Leafs rumour mill. It’s all likely BS typical of this time of year, but you never know.
With the sense that there is no consensus number one prospect but a fair amount of depth to the top 10-12 picks, there may be some movement up and down the order on the draft floor making this day all the more interesting.
At the very least, we know Leafs Nation will erupt in debate over the draft selection of a certain 18-year-old kid only a tiny fraction of the fanbase has seen enough to justify having an opinion on.
Let the fun begin.

@TheCanucksnaphook Or the #5 pick, which is currently held by an idiot GM and you'd get to pick whoever's left out of the big 5.
@Greg Fenton @loomx @TheCanucksnaphook This is ridiculous to start an argument over. We don't know what's being asked for for the #1 or #3 picks. If it's way too much and doesn't make sense, but a there's a trade for the 5th that makes sense than go that route. Maybe they can get a deal done for the 5th that allows them to keep their 8th. Two players in the top 10 would be good. There is so many possibilities we can't argue which draft pick would be better to trade for when we don't know the asking price
@Greg Fenton @loomx @TheCanucksnaphook Because it might cost you Cody Franson instead of Jake Gardiner? This isn't difficult. If the Leafs want Draisaitl or Dal Colle and either is available when the 5th pick comes around, why wouldn't you pay the small price to get the guy you want instead of a worse prospect at 5th?
@Greg Fenton @loomx @TheCanucksnaphook That's why I said "an idiot GM holds the 5th pick.
It's all tied to price. I wouldn't want to give up Kadri and Gardiner to move up to 1st. If the Oilers are asking for too much, I wouldn't move there either. You're making it sound as if there's no point trading up if you can't trade up to 3rd. That doesn't make sense.
@Loric76 late this afternoon? That was like 5 hours ago Kyp, shits going down now
@Loric76 prob for the best
No pressure Ekblad. Despite everyone saying you aren't pronger you are about to be traded to the team hosting that draft that actually wants you to replace pronger.
@Jay_Berg The minute he signs a long term deal the clock starts ticking. He'd be smart to rent a place rather than buy.
@Burtonboy `1st for the schenn bros
@Burtonboy ahh I knew Philly would be the ones to do it, hometown of the draft always tries to make a big splash
@Burtonboy so situation normal
I've been very critical of Nonis today (along with every other day) but I truly wish he comes in and blows us away this offseason and proves me wrong.
I'm 3 beers deep and I think i've drank my negativity away now, feeling optimistic! He better do something soon though after another 6 I'm going to get pissed off at him again
@The_Polish_Cannon But he wont
@The_Polish_Cannon Shit....I forgot to get beer!
@The_Polish_Cannon Nonis...no courage, Shanahan....appears to be a waffler, Leiwicke....at least a big talker.
Toronto Star ran a story on it (among others).
@Jay_Berg We could run the same team again and hope for the best
@Jay_Berg Yes, but in the grand scheme of things, it just means more tire-spinning.
@Jay_Berg You can polish a turd but at the end of the day, it's still a turd. Going to take a whole lot than 1 draft to fix this mess of a team.
