4 more weeks.  Things will start picking up soon, maybe once the kids are back in school they’ll start skating and those that have gone home for the summer will start heading back to their teams.

  • Jeff_Mintz

Johnson is playing well!  Could have a nice play maker on the Marlies.

  • MaxwellHowe

Opened the Champions League site and noticed the ;leading scorer for Turku TPS is Ryan Lasch (former Marlie) and the leading scorer for Villach VSV is Mark Santorelli, younger borther of Mike.
    The more you know….

  • MaxwellHowe

Well he is outscoring those guys by a country mile

  • Yaknowwhat

MaxwellHowe  I’ve said it a million times….whether its khl or sel or the champions ….the numbers posted in these leagues are essentially meaningless when compared to the NHL…..

  • Mind Bomb

    Good morning Folks !

  • Yaknowwhat

    Potential 7th d options for the Leafs…

    From hockeybuzz…

Free agents Henrik Tallinder Jamie McBain and Douglas Murray all played in the Atlantic Division last season and might be willing to come in on a tryout for the chance to lock down a roster spot for the year, as well as former Leaf blueliners Mike Komisarek, Carlo Colaiacovo and Mark Fraser.

  • Mind Bomb

Just 28 days :) or for us married folks, one period ! :)))

  • Burtonboy

Yaknowwhat MaxwellHowe He’s ranked in the top 100 prospects of the last 2 drafts by Cory Pronman. ( around 70th I believe ).  Of course we won’t know what we have till he does play in NA. but people are starting to take notice of Johnson.

  • Yaknowwhat

    Mind Bomb  Morning chief..

  • Burtonboy

Yaknowwhat Douglas Murray eh …… ugh

  • Burtonboy

    Mind Bomb G’day mate

  • Yaknowwhat

Burtonboy Yaknowwhat MaxwellHowe  My point isn’t directed at Johnson specifically…just an overall statement….comparing point totals from these leagues to potential in the NHL…is nonsense..

  • Mind Bomb

Burtonboy Yaknowwhat We have better in Holzner and Granberg lol

  • Yaknowwhat

Burtonboy Yaknowwhat  Thought that list would get some eyes rolling…lol..

  • Burtonboy

Yaknowwhat Burtonboy MaxwellHowe Pretty sure the scouts take notice of those numbers . The’re not completely irrelevant

  • Yaknowwhat

    Phaneuf-Gardiner
    Reilly-Robidas
    Polak-Grandberg (Franson)
    (HolzerPercy)

Do we need another dman for insurance? only if and when Franson is moved out…

  • Mind Bomb

Yaknowwhat Burtonboy MaxwellHowe To a point, but when assessing who you want for your team, take the guy thats dominating his peers 😉

  • Yaknowwhat

Burtonboy Yaknowwhat MaxwellHowe  We better go out and sign
Ryan Lasch (former Marlie) then…..because he’s leading the league….shows you what the number are worth…

  • Yaknowwhat

Mind Bomb Yaknowwhat Burtonboy MaxwellHowe  Its a bit like dropping a rep player into a house league game….the kid looks amazing and dominates….yet once he’s put in a rep game against players equal to or better than him…suddenly he fades into the wood work and is just another guy on the ice…seen this phenomena at work many times…

  • Burtonboy

Yaknowwhat Burtonboy MaxwellHowe So by that logic we should ignore numbers posted by already drafted players who get sent back to Jr. and wind up dominating ?

  • Yaknowwhat

Burtonboy Yaknowwhat MaxwellHowe  To each their own BB….but there is ample historical evidence to prove my point…

  • Mind Bomb

Yaknowwhat Mind Bomb Burtonboy MaxwellHowe True but there is always gems :) this one is ours lol

  • MaxwellHowe

Wouldn’t be surprised if Phaneuf is put on the left side and Polak is put on his right.  that drives some here crazy, but if your next two pairings are Robidas – Gardiner and Granberg – Rielly, the overall balance is much improved.
Franhnie ain’t gonna be a Leaf when the season begins UNLESS his skating is vastly improved and he shines at camp.

  • Yaknowwhat

Mind Bomb Yaknowwhat Burtonboy MaxwellHowe  Yep…Johnson may be a good players for us down the road….again…not down on him at all…..just need to realize that point totals in these sub standard leagues are not  a accurate forecaster of future success in the NHL…

  • Mind Bomb

Yaknowwhat Mind Bomb Burtonboy MaxwellHowe What is ? lol. besides my assessments ? :)

  • MaxwellHowe

Don’t have the link, Keon found it yesterday, but if you have a chance, check out the highlights of Johnson’s six point game.  The goals are high quality in terms of skill – quick shots, attacking the offensive zone with speed.

  • Yaknowwhat

MaxwellHowe  I would still be surprised if Polak sticks with the number one pairing….they may try him there…but I think eventually Gardiner or Reilly take that spot…but is there a huge difference between Polak and Gunnar? probably not much…

  • MaxwellHowe

Not sure why Paul Ranger was not resigned.  He’s fine in a pinch.  I guess its between guys like Granberg, Percy and Holzer

  • Burtonboy

CanuckUKinToronto Yaknowwhat MaxwellHowe Depends how they would use a Gardiner Phaneuf pairing. Having Gards play in all situations with Phaneuf might not be a good idea at this point . I’d be be more careful about defensive zone starts with that pair depending on who they are playing against. Not sure I want Gardiner up against the likes of Kopitar lol

  • TheCanucksnaphook

Less than a mother fuckin month !!

  • MaxwellHowe

He seems to make things happen.  It appears that no one else on his team has 4 points; Johnson has 9.  Nice signs anyway.

  • MaxwellHowe

The Leafs last played a game 4 1/2 months ago.  Now thats a vacay!

  • Burtonboy

So Burger King is buying Tim Hortons eh

  • TheCanucksnaphook

    Burtonboy Yes…this amuses me.

  • TheCanucksnaphook

    MaxwellHowe Its absolutely disgusting.

  • Burtonboy

TheCanucksnaphook Burtonboy Not a fan of Tim’s coffee anyway and I really dislike cardboard Burgers.

  • Mind Bomb

  • Mind Bomb

TheCanucksnaphook Mind Bomb Please do, we are hitting the Nudy bar after, will be a good time, plus we need your credit card :)

  • Mind Bomb

peterbleafs TheCanucksnaphook Mind Bomb Aye was a good time last year

  • TheCanucksnaphook

Burtonboy TheCanucksnaphook coffee is atrocious and this one time when I was high (in my early 20s) I turned a burger king whopper over see the underside of it (unsure why).  It was the most disgusting looking meat-like substance ever.  Never had one again.

  • TheCanucksnaphook

-Keon I still have to do mine, was nominated by my cousin.  May just fire off sme money.

  • Loric76

-Keon TheCanucksnaphook does getting a drink (with ice!) tossed in your face after making a poorly timed lewd comment to the wife count?

  • dlb Mad

    Loric76
only if the lewd comment was to her and about another woman in the room.  was it her sister?  if so.  niiiice

  • Burtonboy

-Keon Got to think about this one Keon . I may do it yet . This not not an excuse or anything but I have an issue with dumping ice cold water over my or anyone’s head. I was involved in a search for a boy that drowned some yrs ago . He was out playing on the ice and went through . We recovered the body later that day . The autopsy revealed there was no water in his lungs . What it did reveal was an embolism had occurred in his brain . The Doctor told us while not all together common its does happen . Apparently the shock of hitting the ice cold water caused a vein in his brain to break . Since then I’m always shied away from things like polar bear dips and jumping into ice cold water .

  • Loric76

dlb Mad Loric76 it could…but if it counts I have till 6pm to pull it off lol

  • dlb Mad

    MaxwellHowe
i’m curious too.  maybe Ranger wanted to get away.  maybe he saw writing on a wall.  i think he’s a quality NHL defender still.
similar to when Lashoff left, there’s just no real story to it.  i’d like someone to tell us a story.
