A three point game from William Nylander (1g,2a) and another goal and assist from the red-hot Brendan Leipsic sent the Marlies to a 5-1 win over the Rochester Americans Saturday afternoon.

Connor Brown hit the 20-goal mark in his rookie campaign with an empty netter to seal the win (he scored an empty netter last night, too). He’s now at 60 points in 73 games and, with a five point lead on next best Charles Hudon, looks like he will win the rookie scoring title in the AHL this season.

Leipsic is now up to 11 points in his last four games and 52 in 71 on the season. If he stays hot, it’s feasible Brown and Leipsic could finish one-two in the rookie scoring race. Here’s hoping.

As for Nylander, he is up to 27 points in 33 games played, a very promising .82 points per game pace for the still-18 year old.

Antoine Bibeau picked up the win in net with 28 saves on 29 shots as the Marlies continue to receive fantastic goaltending from the Gibson-Bibeau tandem down the stretch.

The Marlies sit in eighth in the West, two points clear of ninth-placed Milwaukee with two games in hand.
