Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

By Alec Brownscombe | Dec 24, 2009

nullTo all in the MLHS and Barilkosphere community. Thanks for your continued support, and I look forward to what we can accomplish together in the new year.

On a Leaf-related note this afternoon, sixth round draft pick in 2009 Jerry D’Amigo has been named to the WJC Team USA team. The winger has started off his rookie NCAA campaign strong with 14 points in 14 games for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His qualification for a highly-touted WJC U.S. squad comes after D’Amigo, as a member of Team USA at the 2009 Under 18 World Championships, led the team and finished tied for third in the tournament with 13 points in 7 games en route to a U.S. gold medal win.

I don’t think there it any confirmation on it yet… just checked leftwinglock, and it says Gustavsson, but not in red, meaning not confirmed.

Just asked Brian Burke on Leafs Lunch about the Tlusty trade and the Leafs interest in the signing of Jacob Muzzin from the Soo Greyhounds.
    .
Burke said he only got one soft offer for Tlusty other than Carolina and Paradis was the best offer they got and he admits that Paradis might have been taken higher in the draft by Carolina than a whole other teams. But Burke likes his toughness and sees Paradis as prototypical power forward. As for Muzzin, Burke says that he did not rate him as high asother teams did so they did not pursue him as much as they did when they went after Matt Gilroy.

Since I see no “Get F’ed with Ed” game blog, I’m gonna put my prediction in here, because I’ll be gone all afternoon.

    1) Maple Leafs
    2) 3-1
    3) Grabovski

Just to clarify mu answer from Burke about Paradis, he said Carolina probably took Paradis too high in the draft but still viewed him as a late first round pick or early second round pick so he feels they got good value for Tlusty.
    .
For those who missed it, Burke did address the Kaberle trade situation and if you believe Burke comments, basically it will have to be Kaberle requesting a trade out of Toronto and not the other way around. I will say, if a team does offer the ‘blow your socks off’ trade offer for Kaberle (especially if Toronto is out of the playoff picture at that moment), he WILL do it. He did actually admit that there are NO untouchables on the team (including Schenn) but what makes Kaberle a untouchable is essentially his no-trade clause. He said trade talks could heat up leading up to the Olympic break in early February.

First off,Merry Boxing Day and thank you to Alex and the good folks who make this THE best Maple Leafs site for delusional pumpers and beat down malcontents like myself.

Speaking of which, since I predicted the Kessel fallout from the get go,and had to suffer the accompanying slings and arrows,I ‘ll make another prediction in keeping with this guy’s character.
Says here Kessel has a big game, gets @two goals and first star honours.
Why? Because this is the type of team tailor made for Phil.
Small waterbugs playing wide open river hockey with mediocre goaltending.Unfortunately we won’t see many teams like this (if we make the playoffs) so just enjoy Dr Phil padding his stats and looking like the star some people here insist he is/will be.
If Burke says “nobody” is untouchable,I wonder what he’d fetch for PK come the deadline?
Think Burke could ever admit to making a mistake and try to recoup the losses? He better think about it soon,as my prediction of The ACC faithful turning on him by next year may be accelerated.
Sorry if this seems dire, but it was obvious to me from the beginning, that PK wasnt the answer and we paid enough to get a true, well rounded young star.BB just had to bide his time, wait for desperation and pounce.Cripes it was/is so obvious and that`s what makes me angry. You only get one shot at making such a big, franchise changing(good or bad) move, that you have to be absolutely sure as to the fit and what you are getting back.
Time to take off the TEAM USA blinders BB and start practicing what you preach!Once the fans turn it will be too late, and then Mr Burke, who will get the blame?
    My guess;We,the beat down,malcontented fans.

Well I believe we are all a lot dumber for reading this moronic comment. Sir, I’m glad you think you’re some kind of genius but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Have you now read the comments on here re; Phil of late?…and they are accurate.
The honeymoons over and this is the Phil Kessel those in the know warned us of.I guess you weren`t listening.

I’m rather certain any hardcore Chris Cornell fan GHD IV Kiss Styler, gave up on wishing for his return to the once powerful Seattle Grunge band, SoundGarden… As from that point onwards, things went from bad (That being Audioslave) to much, much worse….. The much much worse being his latest Discount GHD straighteners collaboration with RNB producer
