Up front, the absence of Vincent Lecavalier is not as surprising as that of his teammate Martin St. Louis. Faithful Canadian “heart and soul” types Shane Doan and Ryan Smyth were also left off in favour of players such as Patrice Bergeron.
Tomas Kaberle, Niklas Hagman, Jonas Gustavsson, and Mikhail Grabovski are the current Leafs on their countries’ Olympic rosters. Phil Kessel and Mike Komisarek will likely boost the total to 6 with expected inclusions on the American squad.
