This involves the Leafs, as well as around the league.
TFP: The Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators are among the teams to have serious interest in Alexei Ponikarovsky. Various reports suggest the Leafs are looking for a first-round pick in exchange for Ponikarovsky, though it’s believed Burke is willing to accept a second-round pick and a top prospect.”
5:00 PM Update – Mueller, Roloson, Hamhuis, Voros/Lisin.
Looking further into the Finger/Huet swap, Dreger denies the reports, though the Blackhawks are looking to dump Huet’s contract. There are other rumors circulating that Chicago will then actively pursue Florida Panthers’ goaltender Tomas Vokoun.
The Philadelphia Flyers are hot on the heals of Dan Hamhuis of the Nashville Predators in a trade that could involve defenceman Ryan Parent returning to the team that drafted him. Philadelphia initially acquired Parent in a trade that sent Peter Forsberg to Nashville.
Bob McKenzie is reporting that Wojtek Wolski is on the market out of Colorado. ” Wolski is by no means fire sale and not guaranteed to be moved but if u look at long-range salary implications, Avs are exploring options.”
Bob believes Wolski could be dealt to Phoenix in a trade involving Peter Mueller, but feels more would have to go Colorado’s way.
As per Kevin Allen of USA Today: “With an eye toward the playoffs, the Coyotes are listening to Peter Mueller offers. If they trade him, they will need a NHL scorer in return.”
Reports also confirm that Scott Niedermayer is not in the Ducks plans to be traded at the deadline.
Alexei Ponikarovsky is commanding a 2nd round pick plus a top level prospect. As confirmed by Bob McKenzie: ” Toronto’s Alex Ponikarovsky likely to fetch a second-round pick and a good prospect. L.A. one of many teams interested. ”
As per Andy Strickland, ” Montreal and Tomas Plekanec have good dialogue today on extension. Deal will likely get done after the deadline.”
Kypreos: “Paul Kariya has informed the Blues he has zero interest in getting traded and will not wave his no trade clause. Tkachuk also reluctant.”
On the Kaberle front, as per Bob McKenzie: “Tomas Kaberle has not supplied a list of teams for which he would waive his NTC and has no desire to leave Toronto. Not likely to move. For those who say Kaberle can be traded in summer, he’s one year away from UFA. So if he doesn’t like the location, he’s a one-year rental.”
On Armstrong: “It’s not a given Thrashers will deal Colby Armstrong. But if they can receive good NHL player in return, they will move him. Can’t sign him.” – Kevin Allen
Bob McKenzie: Brad boyes is available as per Blues fax.
According to new reports, Roloson could very well be on his way to Philadelphia. The Flyers have announced that goaltender Ray Emery is now out for the remainder of the season, and Roloson could be the go to guy for the playoffs. Garth Snow, the GM of the New York Islanders, knew that someone’s goaltender would have been injured come the deadline, and here is his opportunity to shed one of Roloson, Di Pietro, or Biron, though the Flyers have no interest in returning to Biron as their go to guy.
According to TFP, the Flyers will only make a move on Roloson if Dan Ellis is not included in the Hamhuis trade they so desperately are seeking.
According to Dallas Dave on twitter, the St. Louis Blues are also in on the hunt for Dan Hamhuis. The Senators were also in on the defenceman, but the price went too high so they opted for Andy Sutton instead.
Aaron Voros and Enver Lisin have been placed on waivers.
The Atlanta Thrashers have a ton of interest in Peter Mueller and could be getting into the sweeps for a possible swap on Colby Armstrong.
