Canada v. Belarus: Leafs playing hockey in late April

No, not that type of hockey, but five Leafs are currently taking part in international action this afternoon. James Reimer, Dion Phaneuf and Luke Schenn will line up against Captain Grabo as Team Canada opens their 2011 World Hockey Championship tournament against Team Belarus. Juraj Mikus and Team Slovakia have just dropped the puck with Slovenia.

Nikolai Kulemin and Team Russia were shocked by a 2-0 shutout upset by Marcel Mueller and Team Germany earlier in the day. It was Germany’s first victory over Russia in World Championship history.

I can’t think of an instance when there was this much Leaf content on Team Canada, so do enjoy and hopefully they won’t be available for the same tournament next year. The game is on now on TSN. A stream may or may not be available here.
