If Dreger really is the mouthpiece for Nonis, then fire Nonis right now. All this dumb talk of "well if you fire Carlyle, who's better?" The truth is, anyone that Shanny picks will be better at this point. Why? Because Carlyle simply isn't the right guy for the job. Worst possession team in the history of the league, one of the worst PKs, zero accountability, and he literally went up to the mic at the end of the year and said "I don't have answers." If that guy inspires confidence in this management group, fire everyone.
Some interesting Babcock speculation. His contract is done after next season and Det also has that Blahill guy everyone keeps talking about. I know it's mostly random comments and tweets but Lew likes to bring in the big guns and Shanny certainly has a relationship there.
I feel there are going to be some major changes and if not I hope we start stockpiling draft picks, cause we're gonna need em
So the fact that Deavne still hasn't played a playoff game mean he's out the picture for the Leafs in the future? Cause Broll is playing every game so far.
For the record....I did overhear a member of management team talking about Freddy Gauthier during one particular meeting. I know they are high on him.
No details could be made out as my eavesdropping skills arent the best.
TSN playing some Linden clips...what a hoot, talk about being in over his head, and he'd give Bob McGill a tussle in a cliche war.
@loomx I think Nonis believes the collapse was orchestrated by the players as a response to something they discovered that didn't meet their approval. Think about how much revenue the team lost because they missed the play-offs. Didn't hurt the players one bit!
I also think Nonis fully supports Carlyle. I believe upper management knows which players were responsible for the collapse and is going to act to eradicate them. The problem is that getting rid of the problem players will not get rid of the problem with the culture. In fact it will create fear and animosity between the players and management. To truly change the culture, management has to fix the problem, not dispose of it. Only then, will we become a choice destination for players who want to win.
@loomx Maybe Carlyle is the guy to get us better draft picks, that's all.
@Yan28 Broll's the better hockey player.
@Yan28 I dont think so. Just too many bodies and not enough roster spots. Just my guess.
I think Devane has a TON of upside and can play effective minutes on a 4th line in the NHL.
@Burtonboy Fuckin guy was all over the ice (in a good way). One play stands out, he hops off the bench as the play is right there. Runs his guy over JUST as the whistle goes for an offside. Stands over him. No penalty because its right on that fine line. Each Admiral on the ice has words for him, and he just chirps right back. Love him
He made a great body check on one Admiral right when the whistle blew for a stoppage, he rocked that guy and yes! he was a pest all night.
@NotTheCanucksnaphook Maybe we can all pitch in and get you a Whisper 2000?
@NotTheCanucksnaphook They were trolling you because they knew you like him.
@ingy56 So Jon Abbotts both was right next to the actual play by play booth. I am standing at the "board" talking to Jon and McGill looks over....shocked he should see him and not me. Gives me the confused old dog look and our displeasure for one another continues !!
@ingy56 Has anyone here seen coach Darryl Sutter's "quips" after each game--------- Priceless
"The thing for me is"... that I like cliche's
Never forget the time I heard Bobby say on radio ..."the Blackhawks just shot their load right there"
True, Devane will get better though, but Broll has more upside. Devane is by far the better fighter though, if you look at his fig card he's barely lost a fight in forever.
Grats,Scott then start tossing names around for three.
Bordy's in the convo as is Gadzic, the latter being a future champ IMO
Patrick Bordeleau with Avs..very tough guy who plays a shift
Didn't Kassian get the jump on Devane and thump him pretty good?
@Yan28 Think he means Patrick Bordeleau for Colorada
Just remember him shying away from Bordy in the preseason..and Bodie took his lumps instead
Bordy's one tough kid though..top three possibly
He is for sure, did well vs Matt Kassian even though Kassian got the edge. He fights on par with Fraser Macleran, and has the same body build too.
