Yes, that’s why the Jeff Carter deal was never made.

Not following your logic at all…if benching Komi and Armstrong was fair ball..there is absolutely no reason why Lombardi and Connolly couldn’t of received the same treatment…not sure what you think the difference is ..both Army and Lombardi were highly paid recently injured players..and both Connolly and Komi were highly paid vets….why do think they should be treated differently?

Orr was given a severance package and his brain was given a reprieve.  The fact is, all teams have struggling players that are also occasionally of the overpaid variety.  They deal with it, they move them down the roster, and they hold the accountable in ways they can (ie. buy outs, trades, released, etc…).  They don’t scream that their coach to put these guys on the bench permanently in the name of accountability or eliminating some fictional disease.

Finger was actually a decent 5-6 Dman, imo. Unfortunately for him, he was being paid like a top 4 Dman. He just wasn’t good enough to justify costing the team $3.5 million in cap space.

I don’t think Cam said otherwise. Someone else thought Wilson gave the vets a free pass while ripping Kadri. Cameron said the vets paid for their poor play by either being demoted or benched.

Is there a chance you two are arguing the same thing?

How many times do you have to be told? Nobody said permanent benching…and now it appears you agree with me…that every other organization does the same thing the Leafs did and don’t get black listed…..and that was one of my points from the beginning…glad you finally seen the light….the Leafs just needed to sit Lombardi and Connolly for the odd game to send a message that there performance wasn’t up to par..its really not that hard to understand…

Well, like I said, I actually don’t believe Armstrong was ever benched.  I just think he was cleared to play but they still didn’t think he was ready.  Remember the incident with him lying about concussion symptoms?  As for Komi, well, I’ve already told you that it’s been years since he was injured.  His benchings came almost two years after fully recovering.  Trying to compare him to Lombardi is weak.

No one benches players returning from a concussion.  That’s just the way it is.  Lombardi was going to play wherever he was.  Nothing to do with coaching or accountability or anything.  It’s just the way organizations work.  They let these guys play their way back until they’ve shown, with extensive examples, that they cannot. -Wilson really had only a very limited window to play Connolly.  Contrary to popular belief, Connolly played very well for him for most of the time they were together.  It wasn’t until about mid-January that Connolly started to struggle.  I totally see why Wilson wouldn’t have benched him when there was already a lack of veteran presence on the bench.  Unlike the fans, he wasn’t making up character defects for him, he was likely just seeing a highly skilled player struggling to produce.
