It’s taken a year and a half, but the Winter Classic is finally a go. Game 1 of the 2014 Winter Classic takes place today at 1pm and will have the weaker of the two rosters in this Alumni Game.

Game #2 Thread up!
Healy is going be trashing the leafs alumni because they didn't invite him as an Alumni Classic. Such a bitter man
I worry that after this WJC all the stat watchers will go from dismissing him (Frederik Gauthier), to hyping him. I'd almost rather have people write him off. I get the sense the all too familiar scenario of foisting big expectations onto Leafs prospects and expecting immediate significant contributions will get the fan base to ride him out of town.
Here's to hoping that us fans can just let the kid develop.
jonasTSN1050: No defenceman in the league has faced more difficult competition in the past 2 years than Phaneuf, this according to http://t.co/hb4ut27vSD.
@wendelsfistha ha healy choke on the bitterness u dic
@wendelsfist He just said : The fan's weren't coming out to see me.." No shit Sherlock.
@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan I probably should just scoot over and read the comments but generally are people in favour of trading Kadri and replacing him with Holland? What are they saying? I'm worried.
@Belfour20 which one? lol
@Belfour20 How do you stand the pro-leafs then?
@DWCMLHS If Harold was still here he wouldn't care, he'd be off counting his Winter Classic cash.
@DWCMLHS That team is too soft.
@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan Herbal ones?
@NotSince67 You know what fixes that? Having a great club that doesn't need a kid to come in and save the franchise. Was saying to Petrielli last night, it's nice that Rielly, who is our best prospect since Clark, in my eyes, is flying under the radar, gets little press and is on pace for 30 points right now.
Thing is he was one of the youngest guys in the draft. Nine months ago he was a 17 year old. He's got LOTS of time to develop. Huge guys have to get used to their size as well.
@Burtonboy Change the channel.
@Burtonboy I was just saying to myself, why do I listen to these goofs.
@Murph2417 On advice of doctors.
@Murph2417 Hey don't fault it. That empty net is sporting a 1000 SV%

@Belfour20 Typical Leaf Goalie Weak Glove Side
@DeclanK @NotSince67 Have you ever thought forward to the public flogging he MAY get if he shows the dreaded sophmore slump? People have Kadri on his was out of town despite he's got far more upside than Holland, and makes his linemates much better than Holland does.
All because Holland is potting goals.
@Xxxxxnew He looks far more co-ordinated than 6 months ago and looks a little thicker. But I mean, this is a kid who may never start to tap his offensive potential until his Xth pro season. I really hope people don't judge him by his stats and can look into the fact that he's gonna be a role guy, but has a chance to really excel at it.
Still growing. I'm hoping with the right development time he picks up on the offensive side as well. Seems to have pretty good hands. I see potential as a puck disher. Unfortunately at this point he's so dependable defensively junior coaches seem to count on him for that role only.
@Xxxxxnew Yeah. Good stick too. He thinks the game like a defensman. Definitely a team kinda guy who is a details guy and does the little things. Blocked a bunch of shots in the Subway Super Series. I mean the idea of a 6'5" guy who's game is probably comparable to Manny Malholtra makes me giddy.
@Xxxxxnew maybe a Sean Courterier type player with great faceoff skills.
What I like about Gauthier as he is right now is his understanding of the defensive side of the game and his positioning.
@wendelsfist @Xxxxxnew I still don't get the Biggs pick, or at least the rationale. Projecting him as a scorer may have had different draft implications than projecting him as an energy guy on the 3rd or 4th line who could end up fighting as well as Mike Brown.
I think if you view it like that Biggs falls into the early second round and the LEafs don't need to move up to pick him giving up 29/30 and the 39th to move up to 22 I believe.
