Serious question right now, but what can we do here? Our defence is a disaster totally after Phaneuf, our whole forwards are pretty much set for the next 5 years or more so not sure you can do anything there. Bolland may never be the same player again so we cant expect him to save this. I just don't know. But when Nonis took out Macarthur, Komarov, and Grabovski and added Bolland  Clarkson, and now Holland, this team is so SLOW. Very slow now

So, I'm guessing Phaneuf, Lups, Kadri, and maybe Franson actually hang in and speak to the media. Anything from Kessel and JVR????? Didn't think so.

@Jordan29they're not slow..... they play slow.... excluding tonight I see a group trying to play better D but they aren't good at it.... that makes them look slow and confused and offensively challenged.....( I don't know.... dont have the answer

@Jordan29 and for the first time in years we cant score...5 on 5 play is non-existent

@WendelGilmour Phil rarely gives a quote, even on a win so I don't see how this is any different.

@Flirting_With_Disaster @-Keon- No real veterans in the room. Lupul isn't a veteran, McClement isn't a veteran, Phaneuf is close to one but is the team captain and should demand respect from everyone.

@T K O @Jordan29 It's the fucking coach. Nonis is fucked cap wise, only change he can make is the coach. Enough with the old hardasses and find a young up and coming coach to complement the youth on the team.

@juliesucks @Jordan29 its because we cant move into their zone anymore. Rewatch that game and whenever we get close the puck is turned over.

@ingy56 @juliesucks @Cloud09 @T K O I think this whole RC Swarm strategy sucks balls. I also think Nonis needs to change some things up but that will happen over time (the next 2 years). I hate the way we dump the puck in to make line changes and give the other team the puck. I could go on and on...

@juliesucks @ingy56 @Cloud09 @T K O Can't disagree, so the question exists are they quitting on the coach or just can't play the system? If they are quitting on the coach, many of these players have done this before, rightly or wrongly, and perhaps that is the issue?

@juliesucks @ingy56 @Cloud09 @T K O I agree with you wholeheartedly. I don't care who the coach is the players are responsible to motivate themselves and bring it on a nightly basis but I don't like the way RC is trying to coach this team.

@Cloud09 @ingy56 @T K O Definitely part of the process for sure, but game in and game out the game really belongs to the players. There has to be a core of players that are respected enough to speak up when required and to pull other players aside and say their play isn't good enough.

@ingy56@Cloud09@T K O For sure it's the players, but you cant fire the whole team. We cant defend, cant score, cant forecheck, cant allow less than 40 shots, dont play physical, special teams have gone to shit. We havent been a good team since Bergeron scored. At some point you have to look at the coach...

@ingy56 @Cloud09 @T K O A coach is supposed to nurture and grow that kind of atmosphere. Yes the onus is on the players to take the reins and run with it but a coach is just as much apart of that process.

ingy56

I@Cloud09 @T K O Is that entirely on the coach though? Does it really take a fiery pre-game speech to get them motivated? It shouldn't, they get old fast. The motivation has to come from within, an expectation should exist whenever you pull on that sweater. That's what's missing IMO.

@T K O The coach sure seems to do a shitty job at motivating and getting these guys to compete night in and night out.

@Cloud09enough with the coach... bogus... and hard ass... give me a break... If anything Carlyle been to soft on some of these guys. When he is hard on someone, people get all up in arms (boo hoo) step up and compete..... You think Carlyle system is to let a guy walk you all night and not make him pay the price to go to the net..... cop out blaming the coach.

@Cloud09@T K O@Jordan29Sad but true. I'm not sure a coach change will help in the long run. It comes when we have a few different players and a better more experienced back end.

@WendelGilmour @Cloud09 Not blaming anyone yet Kessel and JVR, our "cornerstone" pieces aren't talking to the media. If that isn't a backdoor way of blaming those two of not being good teammates I don't know what is.

WendelGilmour
WendelGilmour

@Cloud09@WendelGilmourI'm not blaming anyone, but if you believe our leaders should leave others to face the music you deserve what you get.

This is on the players, and we've hitched our cart to the wrong horses.

Cloud09

@WendelGilmour @Cloud09 Fuck off, Phil not talking to the media is not the issue with the fucking team. You want to blame some one, look at the coach who runs a system where the Leafs give up north of 35 shots a game, almost every fucking game.
