Had Raymond scored that or JVR scored on that PP. The game would have seen different results.

Montreal loses to SJ on the back end of back to back games and the commentators are quick to make excuses for Montreal. Toronto loses on the back end of back to back games to SJ and the commentators are quick to say that “SJ taught Toronto a lesson.”

    Lol perfect recap

  • Yan28

This was the throwaway game of the 3 game East Coast road trip anyways. Carlyle got his revenge on the Ducks, and Bernier will have his chance to beat his former team. Reimer got what was left, and wasn’t expected to win this one.
Leafs will come back swinging and beat the Kings to close it out, I really believe that.
    Go Leafs, Go.

  • DJBrianBurke

Yan28 I feel for Reimer, your point is bang on.

  • Yan28

I feel for him too. There is no way he’s back after this year. A willing back up goalie would be better for this team than a wasted starter with no confidence.

  • Kouba

Have not seen this one yet but from the highlights, nice to see Gleason to seek revenge for goalie violation.

  • Great Dane

As CanuckUK and I pointed out already yesterday the Leafs have a structural problem. Leafs allow way too many shots against.

Even tailing the Sharks we are outshot in the second and third period with combined 19 shots.

Carlyle can’t correct the structural problems of this hockey club. It is time to find someone who can

  • Great Dane

Kessel and Bernier most be in discussion for some silverware this season. It is an amazing performance from these two players.
I do hope that Nonis can add two or three pieces this summer to make this club a true contender.
Alone bring the SA/G down to league average would give an improvement of almost 40 GA per season.

  • Optimustic

That was Game 67 instead of 66 that it says above.   Tough loss, hopefully the boys do better tomorrow.

  • Belfour20

Just like to pump up Paul Rangers tires for a second here.

Paul Ranger +1 with 3 shots on goal and 21:33 TOI

I said in October that this guy just needed some patience and he will come around, he was out of the league for too long for him to just pick up where he left off. Well he’s looking better and better with each passing game. How he managed to to be a +1 last night in such a shitty game is beyond me.  Everyone else was either EVEN or a MINUS, I couldnt be happier for this guy right now.

Man, James Reimer and Dion Phaneuf are being crucified on twitter this morning. Every has bad games, Reimer had no chance that game, the only way the leafs were going to win was if he stole that game. The Sharks are a tough team to play against but it’s even tougher to play them on a back to back, they feasted on a tired team that had just spent most of their energy the night before making sure they got RC the win.

Tim Gleason again seems to be the only one of our defensemen thats willing to protect our goalies, and to me thats very sad. Our fighters no longer fight, so that makes me wonder why they are even on this team? We dress them so we dont get fucked with but none of them ever end up fighting. Just waive the 2 fucks already and bring up D’Amigo and let Ashton play on the 4th line at least they will contribute something to the team.

Dion’s attempted hit on Marleau to me was the wrong time to send a message to the Sharks, if you are going to send a message, do it right away, like when Thornton smashed him into the boards, captain on captain shit and get it all out of the way. What’s the point of trying to send a message with a huge hit like that when the game is lost and the Sharks will still get the last laugh? Not only are the Sharks now laughing at us because they put up 6 goals on us, but they are laughing at our captain for almost taking out JVR, with his concussion history, know knows what kind of damage that hit would of done to him.

That was just an all around terrible game by everyone involved besides Ranger. Thursday will be better though, GO LEAFS GO.

  • TheCanucksnaphook

    6-2?   fuckkkkk

  • TheCanucksnaphook

    Belfour20  i said similar

  • TheCanucksnaphook

Bruffins On the upside, I turned it off at 1-1.

  • MaxwellHowe

Should have called paramedics and the game For Mason Raymond after that breakaway disaster.  Clearly the boy had an aneurysm

  • MaxwellHowe

And it might be a nice gesture to get Reimer into a game the Leafs have a reasonable chance of winning.

  • MaxwellHowe

Watched the highlights this morning.  Awful.  Hard to blame Phanuef for hitting JVR.  He’s not use to seeing Leafs forwards backchecking.

  • peterbleafs

Big team just rolled all over us.  I felt for Reimer, it was a whirlwind of traffic around him, lots of misdirection and nothing the tream in front of him could stop.  Im not going to fret much about this game other than the Leafs got a lesson in how to play a complete dominant game.

  • MaxwellHowe

But we could have circled this game in September as a loser, so all in all, no biggie.

  • TheCanucksnaphook

Bruffins TheCanucksnaphook  yuck.  Giving or receiving?

  • MaxwellHowe

Gardiner shagged up on the first Sharks goal, but ncie to see him pot a couple and gain more confidence.  He has a way of stepping up offensively in those games where the Leafs are behind.

  • TheCanucksnaphook

Bruffins Ha.  Best of luck wth that.  Raining in orlando today.

  • MaxwellHowe

Bruffins TheCanucksnaphook Don’t worry.  That lecture should be very short

  • Yaknowwhat

Missed the game..just seen the highlights…looked ugly..and that hit by Dion? Hope JVR is ok..feared the team might mail it in after beating the ducks and Reimer getting the start…

  • Burtonboy

MaxwellHowe  Reimer had a SV% of .936 against San Jose . Playing him in that game made perfect sense. Like many have said its becoming apparent Reims is not a back up goalie and needs to play a lot more to stay sharp.  As for that game its the hardest B2B in the NHL and very few teams win both .

  • Burtonboy

MaxwellHowe  But he’s useless . No hockey IQ

  • MaxwellHowe

Burtonboy MaxwellHowe Yes.  Of course.  There is a meme the detractors must maintain.

  • Loric76

Bruffins Yaknowwhat  good call.  From a strategy perspective this actually worked out well, just not sure if it was intentional.  RC must have figured it was unlikely they’d win against both teams, so he got them going balls out against Anaheim figuring that they have a better chance to win that one with fresh legs, and then probably hoped to squeeze at least a point out of the Sharks.

  • MaxwellHowe

Thank goodness the Leafs didn’t trade Raymond at the deadline.  It would have been 6-0 and we would have been denied that hilarious Vine above.   That certainly is worth a million bucks

  • Loric76

    MaxwellHowe

Raymond thought bubbles for that Vine:

    “gotta shoot”
    “gotta shoot”

    “gotta shoot”

“ooh a barracuda ad behind the net”
    “oh shit”

Dreger “it’s been a bad year for Clarkson”

  • Loric76

Captain Obvious with that last one Dreger

  • MaxwellHowe

Loric76 MaxwellHowe love the look on the Sharks players faces after the play, at the very end of the vine.  They seem confused about what they had just seen.

  • Loric76

MaxwellHowe Loric76  The closer this team travels to Vancouver, the more Raymond is feeling the effects of the Canucks-Suck Effect.

If I’m Phaneuf, I give JVR one free pass on Elisha Cuthbert. A hit for a hit.

  • MaxwellHowe

Loric76 Can you suspend a guy for landing a headshot on your own teammate?

  • MaxwellHowe

CanuckUKinToronto Belfour20 I’m not an Orr fan, but isn’t that an argument for keeping Colton?

  • Loric76

quiet here this morning, everybody must still be sleeping

  • MaxwellHowe

Bruffins MaxwellHowe Loric76 seems to me that whenever a player is struck above the neck, there is a suspension.  I don’t recall anyone getting off because it wasn’t intentional.

  • MaxwellHowe

Bruffins MaxwellHowe Loric76 Oh they don’t even penalize him.

  • Cameron19

    MaxwellHowe Loric76  Great point.

  • Loric76

Cameron19 MaxwellHowe Loric76  “well uh…we can’t hold it against Zdeno that the other players head was at his knee height”

  • MaxwellHowe

Loric76 Cameron19 MaxwellHowe or that he just happens to hold his stick at everyone else’s chin level

  • Loric76

MaxwellHowe Loric76 Cameron19  I guess it would be unfair to expect him to bend down slightly to avoid cross checking people in the face.  Or just don’t cross check.

  • Cameron19

Loric76 Cameron19 MaxwellHowe  Was actually referring to the point about guys clearly not being able to control their hits when in full speed and Phaneuf’s hit on JVR being a perfect example. But I concur with all this Chara fuckery.

  • Loric76

Cameron19 Loric76 MaxwellHowe  I know.  Back to the Phaneuf hit and not being able to control it until it’s too late, it’s a tough call.  If you watch the replay, he jumps backwards towards Marleau and misses, hitting JVR instead.  He doesn’t even see who he hits until after the fact.  Not exactly a great example if you’re looking for evidence that players skating forward can’t pull up at the last second.  I agree with the original point that they usually can’t pull up, but this just isn’t a great example of it.
