Just two more of these to go.
Tonight’s game at least has the nice storyline of Drew MacIntyre’s first ever NHL start. MacIntyre has always seemed like a great example for the young Marlies and has been patiently awaiting this opportunity for a long, long time. Good for him. Let’s hope he plays well.
Come to think of it, the Leafs will probably need a backup next season….
The crazy thing about Shanahan as President is why fire Burke in the first place? Bring in Leweike to run the entire MLSE and then Burke runs hockey.
if Canucks win tonight they will be 1 point behind us.they are tied 1-1 with Avs in 2nd period and they still have 2 more games left against Edmonton and Calgary could be 2 wins right there
A 2nd and two 4ths.
@Gozo Nonis has been good with trades. I hope shanny forces nonis to better negotiate the ufa contracts
@wendelsfist You'll see why during Shanahan's first press conference...when his tie is done up and his hair is combed.
@wendelsfist Shanahan isn't going to be a Burke a clone. Just because he himself was a "tough" player doesn't mean he's going to be all about truculence and so forth. He came of age int he Detroit system of high skill throughout the line-up and has been opposed to the needless violence in the game.
@Gozo Nah. They're just mailing it in...like half the teams out there right now. It's been terrible hockey for a week now. From most teams.
@ShiftyD Well too bad for those that wanted Nonis gone. Let's see what happens to Carlyle. But if Carlyle is not gone then some leafs are.
@wendelsfist I wanna get rid of Dreger
@wendelsfist oilers could use him with their young d
@wendelsfist Who doesn't? Team needs a scapegoat.
@Bruffins He had every opportunity to get rid of RC all season.
@ShiftyD maybe thats the problem right there
@loomx Trade Bolland's rights for a 4th
and lost another second when Holland played in his spot but for only 5 minutes a night
@loomx Good riddance.
@Cameron19 Not a scapegoat for me necessarily...but representative of the problems. It's worth the step back to change the culture on this team, IMO.
@wendelsfist I didn't realize this was a comparison between the two. I loved Shanahan as a player. He's smart as hell. He's also recent enough to maybe have some real insight into why the leadership of this team keeps failing.
@Cameron19 I'd be in 100% agreement if we didn't have a huge leadership void. He represents it, so...
@djamon @Cameron19 No, but I also don't view the extra games as being an incredible weight on Phaneuf. We should be working to lighten his load by building a forward group that forechecks and creating a second pair that can handle high quality of competition - not turfing our only D who can handle those minutes.
@Cameron19 Lol...you think Dion's 700 games is the same as Bozak's 300?
@Cameron19 Meh...he's 4 seasons younger in reality.
@Cameron19 Lupul for sure...he's 30. Bozak and Kessel are young enough still to be around long enough for the bounce back.
