A Hopeful Tuesday

There might have been a little somethin’ somethin’ crowding your Twitter feed last night, forcing you to miss the updates (or lack thereof.. in this case, possibly a good thing) from the latest round of NHL/NHLPA meetings. No word about what went down, but the negotiating session lasted seven hours and ended with plans to resume talks today (Wednesday).

Considering the last meeting between the two sides took about 10 minutes and preceded two weeks of stalemate, this seems to be a good sign. They’re talking at length, and a process that’s been riddled with posturing has broken for some welcomed silence and secrecy.

Perhaps a few missed paycheques and the cancelation of the Winter Classic has injected the necessary urgency to arrive at an agreement that really isn’t that far out of reach.

Or maybe I’m just brimming with hope after last night.

    Formula 1 needs it. Or they need to change the engines. I always thought that they should start up an Electric Formula 1 and a Hydrogen Formula 1. It’s like Hammond said once. Formula 1 is the crucible from where automotive innovation occurs. It would be nice to see tis innovation happening with electric and hydrogen cars.

    All signed players and unsigned players whose rights are owned by the folding teams get put into a 4 or 5 round draft. Undrafted players become UFAs. Draft order is determined like the 2012 draft.

    A sell-off on Wall Street gained momentum today, with the Dow falling below
    13,000 for the first time since September 4, as investors focused on how
    President Obama plans to avoid the fiscal cliff after his re-election.

    Gloomy forecasts about Europe’s economic growth and a slowdown in Germany
    added more pressure.

    Wall Street had been overwhelmingly in favor of Mitt Romney, considering him
    the more business-friendly candidate.

    Strange eh??
