Wake up early or stay up late?

There isn’t a lot to talk about this morning, as things on the NHL front have gone pretty silent. Other than that we’re (for the most part) looking forward to the World Junior Championships next week to get a look at some Leafs‘ prospects on the international stage.

There’s also, you know, the chance to cheer on a hockey team, which will be a nice experience as well. Though I’m not sure I even remember how to do it.

The schedule for this year’s tournament is pretty awful for us watching in Canada. Morgan Rielly and the rest of our national club will play their first three games at 4:30am Eastern, so unless you have PVR (or live in the Atlantic Ocean, like I do), you may as well just forgo sleep, pour another nog and rum, and stay up for some hockey.

The commercial TSN has running for this thing is “Wake up early, stay up late.” Which camp do you fall in to?

Oh, and I did manage to collect a few links this morning, so enjoy.

I think this trade sucks and should not be done.  I think the prospects are too good to give up and I also think a veteran like John Buck is needed if you are going to make a World Series run.  I hope this trade falls apart.

This Thole guy is average at best, Dickey is good but few knucleballers do will in the post season.  Just send up a lineup of spray hitters and knuckleballers lose.

Agreed.  This Syndergaard kid is exceptional as is D’Arnaud.  I think giving up just one of these kids is fair for Dickey, but both?  Very steep overpayment.  Thole for Buck is a wash but even then I think we lose that tradeoff.

However this is what teams on the cusp do…they give up portions of the future to win now…and now is our opportunity.

AA is superb at keeping secrets so we will have to wait and see exactly who is involved in the deal.

I know Doorman and no matter the deal, I will support AA as he has shown his passion for building a winning team this year.  Kudos to him big time.  I wish Burke were as aggressive/assertive as AA.  For AA to get that Marlin deal done he had to be working his networks non stop and alert enough to build the deal.  Guy is all Blue Jays and that is an absolute treat to see.

Thole is the catcher we’re getting from the Mets…he is Dickey’s personal catcher, so yes.
