    The Goalie Guild ‏@TheGoalieGuild
Like CMason back in NSH, Boucher brings familiarity to Philly. To me, that says more about Bryzgalov than Leighton, who gets screwed again.

Theres not much of a difference between Luongo and Bryz contracts is there? Except that Bryz’s is slightly shorter?

I don’t think their careers really depend on it.  Maybe their wallets.  Someone will sign all three of these guys next year.  I think they all have several years left regardless. We make it sound like Connolly had 4 points last year.  He had 35.  Same as Hemsky, Ruutu, Setoguchi, Kostitsyn, Antropov, etc…
    -
But you’re right, there’s a good chance these guys will step their play up and feel more pressure this year. For Lombardi, I think it’s just about being fully recovered and putting the fear of getting his skull crushed in behind him.

haha ya no doubt, but I would hope that professional athletes have a degree of competitive nature in them and see themselves as being among the best at their game…its gotta be pretty damn humbling to get paid that amount of money and have your employer want nothing from you hahaha

I doubt we do if he plays well. If he plays well hes a better trade option then buyout with his only 3-3.5 mil salary. Plus IMO if he is anything close to average this year its a huge bonus for us. Our defence and overall leadership needs work and he is a big part.

i think hes 1 year younger, contrcat about 2 years shorter, cap hit roughly the same…not much difference, might as well go with the better tender

I’d take Bryz if Philly eats part of his cap.  Say they retain 2 million.  Bryz at 3.666 is great.  And he’s not so fine a goalie that it wouldn’t allow Reimer to develop.
