.937 – Leafs team save percentage over all situations.
1 – Number of teams to ever break .930 over a full season: the Boston Bruins in 2010-11 with exactly .930. Obviously, overall save percentage has been steadily climbing in recent seasons.
32 – Total goals against through 14 games (2.29 GA/G).
43 – Total goals against if the Leafs team save percentage was .915 – a mark still good enough for 10th overall in the league (all situations). A drop from 3rd to 10th in team save percentage would take the Leafs from 6th to 23rd in goals against per game.
47 – Total goals for through 14 games (3.36 GF/G).
275 - The goals pace the Leafs are on over 82 games. If sustained, it would give the Leafs the most goals in a single season since Washington’s 313 in 2009-10. Only 2 teams have surpassed the 275 goal mark since the 2007-08 season (not including goal paces from 2013 truncated season).
187 – The Leafs current goals against pace. 187 has been good enough for a top 5 standing in the league in every season since the 2004-05 lockout.
2,958 – Current shots against pace for the Leafs (36.1/game). If sustained (surely not), it would be the highest shots against total since the 1992 Sharks, fresh off expansion, allowed 3,080 and finished 11-71-2. The worst shots against total since the turn of the millennium? Atlanta’s 2,911 in 2001-02, when they finished 19-47-11.
- 9.6 – The Leafs average shot margin. Better than only Buffalo.
8 - Wins when outshot (leads the league, 8-4, 0.66 win percentage when outshot). Best record when outshot in a majority of (>41) games? Boston’s 32-6-5 mark when outshot in the 2008-09 season.
9 - Number of assists by Cody Franson. Tied for 2nd in the NHL among defencemen.
10 - Dion Phaneuf’s plus/minus. Tied for 3rd in the league among defencemen.
(Almost) 10: Years since the Leafs last beat the Vancouver Canucks (November 24, 2003).
53 - Phil Kessel’s current goal scoring pace over 82 games.
6 - Leafs forwards on pace for 25+ goals.
Friday Morning Links:
– The Leafs have the Buffalo Sabres three times, the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Nashville on the docket in the month of November. The Leafs should be able to keep it rolling with a schedule like that, and maybe even outshoot the odd team.
– Dave Bolland is a Leaf now, through and through. No fraternizing with Barack Obama and his ex teammates.
– Carter Ashton will attend a hearing for his hit on Derek Smith on Wednesday night in Calgary. Only a 2 minute boarding call was assessed on the hit.
– Coaches and GMs on the hot seat. DGB’s latest.
– Get your Keep Calm & Corsi’s Wrong T-Shirt or Long Sleeve (women’s available).
– Check out Morgan Rielly going on a rush and scoring as a novice player. If you missed it when we posted this last season, there’s also hilarious clip of Phaneuf at 9 years old launching clappers from the blueline, including one that almost takes out a parent in the stands.
I think tonight is the night the Leafs come out and play a complete game. I think they will finish their checks and the forwards will help our D. With Kulemin back in there, and Clarkson, I think it will make a difference on others. Has anyone heard if Fraser is in?
Fire your coach - check
make a trade - check
The Flyers sitting @ 3-9 with 20 goals scored - priceless
Who does Carlyle play against the Sedins tonite
I think he rotates Bolland/ Clarkson/ Lupul and Mclememt /kulie/Raymond
Hit them early and often
If Scott didn't get suspended for jumping Kessel I don't see how emery gets suspended for beating up Holtby. Miller didn't really want to fight Bernier but I didn't hear anyone complaining about that.
I'm not a fan of shit like this but just saying how I read the situation.
Wish I could see how that Schenn fight started, cause it looks like the Capitals player is watching the Emery/Holtby fight and Schenn just drops his gloves.
Would be interesting to see if he just sucker punched him or waited for him to drop his gloves too.
Sorta like last Saturday against the Pens?
He should have started with John Scott then
@Loric76 Groans ,more time for the ceremony then ? Yuk
I might need some botanical s too lol
@Jantz That is a shocking lack of offense.
@Zep2 Cant wait to see the Sedin sisters handle this unsuccessfully,,Lupal and Kadri etc should have a great night
@Zep2 You know Bolland will be licking his chops, I expect a big game from him tonight. Gotta have a win tonight to carry us through until Friday.
It's a road game, so he won't always have the option of line-matching, but it'll obviously be Raymond/Bolland/Clarkson when he gets the chance.
@Zep2 I'd like to see Kulemin/Bolland/Clarkson on them, but Kulemin probably isn't going to be right up to speed for a week or two yet, so maybe not. He hasn't skated much, so I'm expecting he'll need a grace period.
@Jay_Berg He won't get suspended. No one is saying he will. They're saying he should.
Scott didn't get suspended becuase of Kessel's stick work and the fact he got jumped by 3 guys before he could. And if Bernier was in the opposing end in the corner squaring off against a guy who had no intrest I would say suspended him as well. But for Emery to say to the press "I told him to protect himself" is above and beyond.
@JMAC17 I wonder if they might be trying to acquire Ryan Miller. They wouldn't give up a 1st rounder, but they have some nice pieces they could move if they thought they could lock Miller up for 5 years.
@JMAC17 I guess they have decided to challenge Buffalo for last place overall
They have a young guy Ramo i think.
John Scott didn't get suspended for instigating and attacking Kessel, so why would Emery get suspended for doing the exact same thing?
@rustynail Emery is one crazy, tough customer
@theacs1966 @Jantz So much talent up front on that team. I have to assume there is no chemistry at all on that team. I noticed when we beat them that Simmonds was acting all sucky after missing a few chances....... I remember thinking that i wouldn't like that from one of our players.
I hate the Flyers.
If Bozak were healthy, the ideal shutdown line would be McClement/Bolland/Kulemin, but that means one of Raymond, Clarkson or Lupul would have to play on the fourth line.
Exactly. If kuli not up to speed, put in Raymond, who is quick enough and should be familiar with their habits
Splitting hairs in the eyes of the league. End result was two guys dropping their gloves. Again fully agree it was bullshit
@Jay_Berg if Orr skated the length of the ice and pounded on an unwilling opponent would he get suspended?
Shutout by Luongo?
It's not a totally different situation though.
Both incidents had one individual that wanted to fight and one that didn't.
Just because Kessel managed to find him off with his stick, before his teammates could save him, doesn't mean Scott didn't intend to mess him up.
@Cameron19 @moimoi @vinoa @Jay_Berg Having seen the Emery fight again I have to agree. Emery deserves a suspension. He brutally assaults a guy who clearly doesn't want to engage and can't fight because of his position. If I were Holtby I'd want out of Washington. You know there's no way that would've happened to Reims or Bernier. Hell, Kessel would've hacked Emery a new one.
It would be one thing if Holtby had been involved whatsoever. Seemed like he was completely outside the fray. Emery should get suspended if that is the case.
@Ryan @Jay_Berg Bernier practically did. Miller clearly had 0 interest in that scrap.
There is fighting than there is being stupid. How many goalies do you see skate the length of the ice to fight another goalie ? In all the line brawls I dont think i have seen a goalie sake the 200 ft maybe a 100 to meet the other goalie.
@Jay_Berg That makes one of you. STrombone tweeted. "if I see Emery skating down the ice to fight me, I'm getting the fuck out of Dodge."
What emery did was completely bush league but shit like that happens. NHL allows fighting. Don't see this resulting in suspension
Well what are you gonna do when a guy basically says protect yourself than goes to the media and says it you gonna take a punches to the face ?
Holtby still dropped his gloves. I'm not advocating it at all I'm just saying technically I don't see him getting suspended.
