Carter, Kunitz, Marleau and Nash all make the team. No St. Louis, Staal, Thornton, Neal or Giroux. Hamhuis and Vlasic both make it on defence.
Marc – Edouard Vlasic
I’m sure everyone agrees with this roster, right?
Remember the bad old days of fifty years ago, when Canada was prohibited from sending its best players to the Olympics? There are a few names from the 1964 Canadian Olympic team that you might possibly know... like Rod Seiling, Gary Dineen and Seth Martin. But Hank Akervall? Gary Begg? Ray Cadieux? George Swarbrink?
Here's the team we should have sent (wonder how they'd do against today's guys):
Hull - Mikita - Wharram
F. Mahovlich - Keon - Bathgate
Moore - Beliveau - Geoffrion
Howe - Ullman - Bucyk
Pilote - Harvey
Horton - Brewer
Gadsby - Johnson - Vasko
(Any of) Plante, Sawchuk, Bower, Hall, Worsely
Gold medal in a walk.

Must be really crappy in Buffalo, crappier than usual that is, because the Sabres-Canes game has been postponed.
Congratulations Kulemin!!!! Cheering for you
Over the Last three years:
gp 168 g 22 pts 81 (Doughty)
gp 173 g 11 pts 46 (Vlasic)
gp 171 g 25 pts 89 (Phaneuf)
gp 173 g 12 pts 74 (Hamhuis)
gp 170 g 15 pts 78 (Bouwmeester)
Only slight objections Nash and Stamkos. Not because i think Stamkos is bad but because he's injured. And Nash is going on reputation not what he's been doing.
You know who likes Team Canada's D Core, The USA line of Callahan Backes Brown. They will eat Hamhuis Vlasic, Pietrangelo and Jay Bow Alive
@Mattmarkwow ,love to have something like that now ,holy ......
@Tim Hortonand don't under estimate Russia at home. If Datsyuk and Malkin is in form and they finally have goalie that can stop the puck they are dangerous on home ice.
Poor Eric Staal and Semin, not making their olympic teams and then having to stay in Buffalo extra
@Bruffins So JVR/Kessel, Komarov and Kulemin make their countries team. That's 4 players from the leafs organization.
Did Peter Holland make the Danish Olympic team? :-)
@Bruffins P9 > Vlasic and Hamhuis
@CanuckUKinToronto this makes PERFECT sense to me lol
@Airfreshener We are just really eager today.
@mcloki Nash was a lock on reputation alone IMO hes been that good for Canada.
@mcloki He's got 54 points in 56 career international games. Nash is an international stud for Team Canada. Hope he keeps it up.
@Omac13 That is a tough line but not the most talented. No real play maker there.
@Omac13 Until Weber goes over the boards. Besides Backes knows he can't piss Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester off as long as they're his top pair.
@CanuckUKinToronto Most likely out in which case Jerry D is slated to take his place
Weber will be playing againts the top 2 lines if not even better for the USA. Canada Failed on the D Core Between Hamhuis Vlasic Pietrangelo and Jay Bow I bet you they dont have a Combined 200 hits his season. Hard to move the puck when your chasing the forecheckers. Which one of them will clear the front of the net? Canada will finished 5th , they will give up to many goals mark my words
@MaxwellHowe Russian Malkin would play for Team Canada...who wouldn't want a shot at gold?
@MaxwellHowe Kinda, not really.
Live 0 But since their names have been coming up in Olympic Talk i have watched them closly on TV(center Ice) and they are not even the top guys on their teams (Boyle in SJ). Vlasic is basically Gunnerson, Gunner would be as good as him if he played in SJ. Easy to look good in SJ when Thortan and Courtoure have the puck all the time and you dont have to defend much
@Omac13 Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester don't play a physical game but they're strong skaters with good positioning. Give them a bit of credit...probably one of the best pairings in the league
don;t see Canada finishing anywhere lower than third but I get your point
Thats why there MIGHT be a Maj. Jr scout at a tier 2 game and some NCAA guys, but you go to the Herbert Carnagie double header and teams send multiple reps, an theres almost 50 scouts.
LEt it put it to you this way, I would not be surprised to see 5-6 kids on the Toronto Marlboros go straight to the O as 16 y/os. Vaughn Kings have 2. Jr. Canadiens have 2 maybe 3.
Literally some of those kids at 15 are too good for Jr. A. Adam MAscherin is already a PPG player in the OJHL as a call-up
But now you understand what I'm saying. In a league with a 20 year turnover versus 4, kids outside rd 4 in the OHL rarely even play as 16 year old. So why would the 30th deep in a league with significantly less turnover, no age cap, be expected anything near eye-popping?
I mean you are spouting idiocy and that fact you scouted and say that shows why you aren't scouting any more.
@hoolihan @NotSince67 @dlb eh Then there's idiots like you who automatically assume a first rounder is supposed to be a first line talent. Not gonna happen to 30 guys every year, year in year out. Think about it. 30 1st rounders per year, 30 teams. Every year a team gets a new first line player? doesn't work like that man.
