The Toronto Maple Leafs are in Dallas (8 p.m., TSN) looking to extend their winning streak to 7 games— which would be their longest in 11 years (2003).
Dallas is mired in a poor stretch of play – 2-7-1 in their last 10 games – but won their last game 4-0 over Minnesota on Tuesday. Their top line is a serious threat, with Benn and Seguin combining for 86 points between them this season, compared to JvR and Kessel’s 91. After their dynamic duo the Stars have a bit of a drop off in production, with no other player scoring at a greater than .50 points-per-game rate (compared to the six scoring at .50 or greater for the Leafs).
The Stars’ bigger issue, though, has been keeping pucks out of their net, as they sit 25th in goals against (2.96 per game). The Stars and Leafs actually stack up one behind the other in both goals for and against, with the key differences being the Leafs’ easier Conference and their ability to collect points via shootout.

Toronto’s play has been remarkable of late—and specifically Phil Kessel, who has climbed up to 4th (tied) in the league for goals scored with 26. The Leafs’ No. 1 line has now amassed a stupefying 42 points in their last 12 games together. Kessel enters tonight riding a seven-game point streak (six goals, 14 points). The Leafs have won just five games without a Kessel point this season – how will the team fare when he is eventually kept quiet?
Jonathan Bernier is expected to get the start after Reimer pitched in with a great start in Colorado. Bernier is riding a four-game win streak (2.45GAA, .935SV%).

Trade everybody for picks? Carlyle can't coach, Dion can't captain, Phil can't defend, Bozak is 4th line at best. Pittsburgh model is the only way to win #Ekblad and #McKinnon
@Burtonboy They were bad, the goalies were bad, Gunnar/Phaneuf were bad, and the line they played against was absolutely on fire. Bad combo.
@Jay31 Surprise, surprise. I was worried about that. They believe they can give 50 per cent effort and win ... until they get spanked once again.
Everything was fucked tonight. Coaching, goalies, players, pucks................fuck even I just went in the bathroom to take a piss before bed and started brushing my teeth again instead. Night was a write off
@OptimusticYES IT IS PREPARE FOR ANOTHER BLOW OUT AND DONT GO CRYING TO THE CORNER WHEN IT HAPPENS LMAO
Get 2 more D like Gleason. He doesn't stray from his position to much, only to lay a nice hit.Did anyone else notice Dallas played a box style d even when they weren't on the PK? They kept the Leafs out. Very effective system. It's like they were baiting to make passes up the middle, or come in thru there and they would pick them off.
@deedrag Their system has been painfully inefficient all season. The Leafs just played like garbage.
@Cameron19@deedrag They might of figured out the bugs in their system Cam. They won the other night too. We need a larger sample to gauge their play better. And yes the Leafs gave a poor effort minus Gleason and Kulemin. You know what after hearing people complain about someone's comment " It is what it is", it actually fits for this team. They win with authority and then lose real bad. "IT IS WHAT IT IS".
Some Leafs fans are so fuckin predictable . We just reeled off 6 wins while facing one of the toughest schedules against some pretty good competition. These guys were obviously gassed and its not surprising yet some fans want to lay blame on Dion or whatever convenient target they can find . What a load of bullshit
@Burtonboy ouuuuuuu logic.....ya we dont accept that after a loss, sorry
@Burtonboy I'm just as thankful that we lost a game before Clarkson came back..... can't even imagine if we ran the table and lost when he returned.
People can rip Phaneuf on his play all you want, and you can use supporting information to help your argument, and its respectable at least. But for a fan who sits on a couch and watches a game on TV a few times a week from hundreds of miles away, its nothing short of hysterical to think you have a sweet fucking clue about if the guy is a good captain or not. Your not on the plane, your not in the dressing room, your not on the bench, your not eating food with them, your not on the ice.........your sitting on your couch probably pounding back a beer and reading about some stupid shit on the internet......stfu
May I point out...that this pretty much excludes all of us from commenting on 90% of the stuff on here...but then I am a hypocrite!
@Loric76 he could have saved some characters and included that they've won 2 out 3 so far. But that's too un-Mirtle
Gotta say I'm really liking what Gleason has brought to the table so far. That play in the first period where the DAL player went wide on Franson and Gleason scooted right over to cover while telling Kule to take his man was excellent...
@cant_take_it_anymore Lollllllll why didnt you say that during the win streak?
@cant_take_it_anymore And you are a piece of shit troll. Please leave.
@cant_take_it_anymore Ben's a shitty captain as well cause the stars 2-7-1 in their last 10
@cant_take_it_anymore I'm all out of food buddy...sorry.
