Sources tell MLHS that Brian Burke is set to hire the former Vancouver captain and recently retired Markus Naslund as a European scout. After drafting 100% North American at the 2009 draft (on purpose by Burke’s own admission), just how much they’ll use him is another question. It should be said that as much as Burke molds a roster high in North American content, he has a definite predilection for Swedes. The Leafs add a reputable name to the scouting staff here that was idolized by many Swedish youngsters growing up.

Leaf fans, the prospect camp has come and gone and it seems to be shoruded in mystery. Many other teams have reports of their prospects camp with useful infomation and som videos. The Maple leafs website has nothing. The leaf web site staff is very quick to pounce on evey word that GM utters and promptly places it on the website. I agree Burke is a very good GM and has done very well, having said that the website staff has some responsibility to the fans too. I guess they also belongto the entitlement era, and some shake up there wil be good too.As for Howard Burger, instead of reporting on the team, providing some useful info about something we don’t know, he expresses his opinions thinking he is a coach, GM, Crictic and analyst rolled into one. I think we should let reporting staff of the Leafs and as we as the fan 590 know about our feelings.

@Darkknight the “fire Howard Berger” campaign from last year never really went anywhere. Website’s still up, though. As for Leafs.com, were you around the other day when their online streaming of a Burke press conference didn’t have any audio? It’s pretty much a gong show.

Yes, I was. They seem to be content with the GM’s reporting only. Thank God that other reporter has stopped posting his own on-ice goofy videos on the site or may be he will start doing it next season.
