Marlies & Prospect Update – Nov. 6

“The Marlies posted a record of 1-0-1-0 in two games this past week. On Friday night, Toronto traveled down the QEW for their third meeting of the season against the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Despite Josh Leivo scoring his first goal of the season just over five minutes into the game, the Marlies were defeated 2-1 in overtime. Martin St. Pierre tallied both goals for the Bulldogs, while goaltender Drew MacIntyre stopped 35 of 37 shots in the loss.

In their second game of the week, the Marlies defeated the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, by a score of 5-2 last night. Defenceman T.J. Brennan notched three points (two goals, one assist) and was named the game’s first star. Sam Carrick and Jesse Blacker both tallied their first goals of the season, while Drew MacIntyre earned his sixth victory of the year.

Notes:

.J. Brennan ranks 3rd (tie) in AHL scoring, with 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in 10 games this season. Brennan also ranks 1st in points among AHL defencemen.

- Toronto currently ranks 19th in AHL powerplay percentage (17.2%) and 14th in AHL penalty kill percentage (82.7%).

- The Marlies have outscored opponents 12-6 and outshot them 107-64 in second periods this season.

- Spencer Abbott has collected at least one point in every game he has played this season.

- Goaltender Drew MacIntyre ranks 3rd in AHL wins (8) and 8th in AHL goals against average (2.11).

- Toronto ranks 7th in AHL goals against per game (2.50).”
