Toronto finished strong, pulling away in Corsi over the last half of the third period. They also dominated in terms of chances, and had the better of the neutral zone, although the Ducks were able to get more controlled entries.

After finishing the first period behind in chances, the Leafs had the first eight chances of the second, and also had seven of the last nine chances, taking the last forty minutes by an 18-6 margin.

Parenteau’s two goals were both part of his team-best ten chances, as he, Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk had a great offensive game, mostly against the Getzlaf and Perry line. While that line was on for more chances against than any other Leaf trio, they made up for it with their strong offensive showing. Nazem Kadri’s line was the only other line to generate a notable number of chances, as the bottom two lines only managed a couple between them.

Matt Hunwick and Morgan Rielly joined the Bozak line in matching up against the Ducks’ big guns, and also had good numbers, both finishing clearly in the positive. Jake Gardiner and Dion Phaneuf were the worst of the pairings in chances, finishing at even, and — like the top pairing — posting low totals for controlled zone entries. Martin Marincin and Roman Polak went primarily against the Cogliano line and were able to shut them down for the most part.
