The Leafs are dressing a haphazard lineup to say the least after today’s big trade and the recent injuries, but it presents an opportunity for those remaining to step up and fill the void.

It’s going to require a collective “stepping up” on the backend if the Leafs are going to be respectable without Dion. While Gardiner and Rielly will need to take ownership as the most talented members of the Leaf blueline, this trade presents an opportunity for both Martin Marincin and Frank Corrado to prove themselves in regular duty.

The Calgary Flames may scratch some key figures tonight for disciplinary reasons.

That’s nice of them.
