The Toronto Maple Leafs announced their 2016 rookie tournament roster today.

The Maple Leafs would-be headline performer is off playing against elite competition at the World Cup of Hockey, while their recent picks out of Europe this past draft also won’t be in attendance. Among the four 2016 draftees participating are Adam Brooks, Keaton Middleton, Jack Walker and Nicolas Mattinen.

The 2015 draft class is well represented: Mitch Marner, Travis Dermott, Jeremy Bracco, Andrew Nielsen, Martins Dzierkals, Dmytro Timashov, Stephen Desrocher, and Nikita Korostelev, for eight total.

There will be plenty of players on AHL contracts in attendance (eight), including recent signings Cason Hohmann and Jon Jutzi, and a lower than usual number of free agent invitees – just two in Tye Felhaber (an 18-year-old center with the Sagniaw Spirit and a former Pembroke Lumber King like Sheldon Keefe) and Tyler Wong, the former Lethbridge Hurricane who played a few games for the Marlies last season on an ATO.

The tournament runs Friday, September 16 to Sunday, September 18 at the Budweiser Gardens in London. Tickets are available at BudweiserGardens.com.
