  • MaxwellHowe

    Nice article on Sam Carrick

  • PEIleafnation

MaxwellHowe so hes in and mc clement out?

  • wendelsfist

PEIleafnation MaxwellHowe  Hopefully he is a 2 for 1 players since he can drop the gloves.  Mclemment and Orr out and Carrick in

  • MaxwellHowe

McClement should be out IMO.  Brian Boyle might be a good UFA to seek out for the 4th line C position, but failing that, Carrick should get his chance.

  • PEIleafnation

MaxwellHowe boyle at best is a 4th liner?

  • Burtonboy

MaxwellHowe  He’s another one that I highly doubt ever hits the market .

  • PEIleafnation

Burtonboy MaxwellHowe I think shanny /nonis will look to move lupul for grinding player(s) ..guys that show up this time of year …

  • wendelsfist

No Carlyle fired yet.  Habs and Bruins win.   At least San Jose won

  • MaxwellHowe

I agree, Lupul should be trade while he still has value.  IMO he doesn’t fit into the lineup anymore.   He is an offensive minded player where a two way battler is needed.  Throw in the constant injuries and the $5.25 million cap hit is unacceptable.

  • MaxwellHowe

well, Chicago’s 4th line C – Bolland – is slated by many to be the Leafs #2 C – so on this team Boyle might end up on the third line.

  • MaxwellHowe

    I tend to agree

  • Mind Bomb

MaxwellHowe   The article by Kyle has the possible line up and Jared Smithson has a spot , wow Staubitz playing on the 4rth, yet Biggs is a scratch

WTF is going on down there, I thought this year we were going younger and trying to produce NHLers. I dont see how giving those 2 important playoff minutes, benifits this organization any

  • wendelsfist

Caps might be moving Mike Green (right hand dman) who is oft injured  and with 1 year left at 6M remaining.  He doesn’t play defence well so he might fight right in here

  • Mind Bomb

MaxwellHowe   And really he has MCkegg as the 1C and Holland as a 2c

  • wendelsfist

And what about Tampa as a trading partner as they need defenders (Franson or Gleason).  After Stamkos I’m not sure what I really want from that team.

  • wendelsfist

Also Mark Fayne  (another right handed dman):
http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/22/devils-fayne-has-groin-surgery-faces-8-10-weeks-of-rehab/: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that defensemanMark Fayne “underwent successful surgery to the core muscle of his left groin” yesterday. Rehab is expected to be eight to 10 weeks. Fayne is a pending UFA.

  • twitting_sg

wendelsfist  and what do we have that they would want to trade Stamkos? Maybe we target Carle or Filppula

  • dlb meh

“It’s not clear how Mr. MacLean believed Mr. Charron is a “local referee” for Habs games. He’s from Gatineau, Que., a suburb of Ottawa, where the Senators play.”
NHL ref growing up in Ottawa – would he have grown up a Sens fan?  It’s likely his family already had their roots planted as either MTL or TOR fans or neither if they chose to hate both, fair enough.
It’s one of those comments that gets the mob agreeing with you because no one decides to step back and think about it.

  • dlb meh

    wendelsfist
he looked good in each of the handful of games i followed him around the ice.  not perfect, but better than what we got from Franson this year.  other than 4 games, where Franson was actually ideal.

  • dlb meh

    wendelsfist
    noooooo  haha

  • dlb meh

    PEIleafnation
be fair to Lupul.  he shows up, he’s just hurt too often.  playing hard just hurts him.

  • dlb meh

    Mind Bomb
playoffs is not a sprint.  i’m fine with it.  Biggs is two years away at least anyway.  this could serve as a kick in the pants and a lesson in observation at the very least.

  • dlb meh

“I think the biggest key to our success so far has been our forwards: how hard they work, the pressure they put on the puck all over the ice. Not just on the fore-check deep in their end, but at the bluelines, coming back, back-pressuring. When they do that … it allows us as defencemen to hold our gaps,” said Josh Gorges.

  • dlb meh

After finishing the season as the sixth-worst puck-possession team in the regular season, Montreal is now near the top of the rankings in the playoffs (beware the small sample size). They have racked up 56.2 per cent of the shots and shot attempts at five-on-five while the games are close (a measure known as Fenwick), and, per extraskater.com, have a .962 save percentage in those situations. Apparently it helps to have Carey Price in net.
    fire the coach

  • Mind Bomb

dlb meh Mind Bomb   Sure, but its 4rth line minutes for Biggs over staubitz, hmm I would just do it different I guess.

And smithson, wow. IF we go up 2 games, I would at the very least give Gauthier a Look on the 4rth :)

  • Mind Bomb

CanuckUKinToronto Mind Bomb MaxwellHowe   and we were led to believe that would not happen, Spott’s job was to Graduate NHL’ers

  • wendelsfist

dlb meh  If those numbers are correct, that shows when a team commits to the system, battles for the puck and playing defence then puck possession follows.

  • Leafs1381

I think the leafs should try holland on the wing as hes not great on faceoffs and will prolly be a winger if he makes the team next year

  • dlb meh

    wendelsfist
you mean when goaltending is great

  • dlb meh

    Leafs1381
i’d love to see them try that … but perhaps the time isn’t now

  • wendelsfist

dlb meh wendelsfist  I was just looking at the puck possession stat  and not the team winning.   Teams need both to excel

  • dlb meh

    wendelsfist
the puck possession stat stated they were 6th worst during the season, yet they ended up high in the Eastern standings…

  • wendelsfist

dlb meh wendelsfist  Ahh yes.  I was looking at puck possession post season (56.2%).

  • Leafs1381

dlb meh Leafs1381  ya i doubt they would just think it would help more for the future

  • rustynail

CanuckUKinToronto Mind Bomb MaxwellHowe  maybe Smithson gets suspended again if he can catch some one to foul

  • dlb meh

    Mind Bomb
when you get into a playoff game you will play the shit out of your best players, and the ones who are most effective on that particular night … so the 4th line won’t get a lot of ice time really.  they’ll just go out and hit and create some commotion.
i think Biggs and Abbott will slide into the lineup at some point.  Biggs is better suited as a defensive conscience on a line that gets meangingful minutes, and looking at the lineup it seems balanced with or without him.
i wouldn’t bother with Gauthier at all unless players get hurt.

  • Mind Bomb

dlb meh Mind Bomb   Just not a Fan of Smithson, at all, and I am not worried about say it, as there is no way he could catch me lol

  • Mind Bomb

rustynail CanuckUKinToronto Mind Bomb MaxwellHowe   The Coach could tell him to go all Clarkson and Leaf the Bench :P)

  • http://i.imgur.com/MyKj5C3.gif ingy56

CanuckUKinToronto Mind Bomb MaxwellHowe  That was a big concern when Greg Gilbert coached the Marlies.

  • Murph2417

    Mind Bomb dlb meh  agreed

  • dlb meh

    Leafs1381
Spott’s quoted saying they won’t put development ahead of winning, going into the playoffs … Holland’s a great AHL centre, so let him continue to be good there.
if we open training camp with a competition between Holland and Kadri for a centre spot and one has to play some games on the wing to see what they can do, then that’s not a bad situation.
    Holland’s Jeff Carter-lite and Kadri’s a cross between Roy/Richards after all.

  • peterbleafs

dlb meh Leafs1381No timing is bad now, since we are done playing till October. Now is a better time to go fishing, which is exactly what I am going to do.

  • http://i.imgur.com/MyKj5C3.gif ingy56

peterbleafs dlb meh Leafs1381  Sssssshhhh…. the playoffs are still on.

  • dlb meh

    peterbleafs
    sounds like a good plan

  • dlb meh

    ingy56
    draft shmaft

  • Leafs1381

dlb meh Leafs1381  ya I see what u mean just dont wanna have another colborne situation like last year where he cant get a centre spot on the team

  • dlb meh

    Gilbey93
depends on who makes up the rest of the roster, doesn’t it?
Ashton-Kadri-Holland could make up one line

  • Murph2417

dlb meh Gilbey93  That’d be a nice looking 3rd line

  • Yan28

I bet Carrick is money in the playoffs. Just that type of player.

    But “inatngibles”….https://twitter.com/fearthefin https://twitter.com/fearthefin/status/458838183585660928
Dustin Brown scored 27 points in the regular season and has zero points in this series. He’ll make $7.25 million next year. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23GoKingsGo&src=hash
