The 2013-‘14 Leaf season upon reflection: perhaps the Leafs needed not only leadership, but better followers, ..Vintage Leaf Memories
@lukethenuke yeah maybe but Reimer lets in the same kind of goals fleury does so wont help them much.
@lukethenuke Let's see how Reimer plays in the Word Cup Champonship in a a month first, that will be his last chance to redeem himself.
@loomx Were moving him to acquire Kesler, which Gillis fucked them over on. Murray was left with his dick in his hand.
I'd love to see STL or COL or even pesky SJ POUND the Habs in the finals, but Boston won't let em get that far I guess rite? too bad :(
OT again. Steen and Jackman scored in the first two OT games for the winner. Who is the hero tonight
@wiski I find the playoffs generally get more boring as the rounds go on. First round is always the best
@wiski its an AMAZING series eh? plus if you're watching the STL feed, you get all those hilarious local commercials, crazy car salesmen, Brett Hull selling trucks ext ext lol beauty
@wiski More impressive is that they quickly exchanged Rundblad for Tarasenko - recognizing a failure and addressing it almost immediately.
The blue use the neutral zone centre line boards to clear the puck from their zone when they recover the puck under pressure.
@Sharky_77 At least he stopped the stupid rooster hairdo. I never realized he had a red hair afro early in his career
@ShiftyD Versteeg got us Percy and Leivo. It might be 2 more years before we finally get a return on that trade.
I know I don't watch as much hockey as most of you guys - TBH I ike to play it more than watch it, so I've just been watching Leaf games this year, but WOW Now I can see why St Louis were smirking when the were playing Toronto.
I picked the Ducks from the start, but I'm cheering on ST Louis and Colorado - they're just so fun to watch
@FloorHockeyFlopper I've really been enjoying SJ as well. Big, fast, high skill, tough. Like the Bruins but more offensive skill and faster imo
If our team was the Sharks, who would our whipping boys(s) be?
Come on you guys know there would be. LOL
@ShiftyD Burns is a local Barrie boy here, but hard to say ANYTHING against his current form
I am falling in love with the Blues - such a great playing team - how cool is Bernie Federko doing the interviews, a lot smoother, less pressure than in Toronto - that it, I'm moving !!!
@wiski Love it. Go Blues
Marlies lineup from Kyle Cicerella
Potential lineup to start the playoffs
Josh Leivo-Greg McKegg-Carter Ashton
Jerry D’Amigo-Peter Holland-Sam Carrick
David Broll-Trevor Smith-Brandon Kozun
Jamie Devane-Jerred Smithson-Brad Staubitz
Andrew MacWilliam-Korbinian Holzer
Stuart Percy-Petter Granberg
T.J. Brennan-Eric Knodel
Forwards includes, Kenny Ryan, Spencer Abbott, Tyler Biggs, Frazer McLaren, Brad Ross, Carter Verhaeghe, Fabrice Herzog and Frederik Gauthier.
Defence includes, Kevin Marshall, Dylan Yeo, Zach Yuen and goaltender Christopher Gibson.
As long as everyone stays healthy, the Marlies are poised for a long playoff run. I'd swap in Biggs or Gauthier for Smithson and when Abbott comes back drop Carrick to L3 and Kozun push out Staubitz. Really excited for the Marlies, hope they put on a damn good show!
@Cloud09 That is some great depth. But why is Staubitz in there? Funny how Mclaren gets scratched even in the AHL
@Cloud09 I agree, however Biggs or Ross should be in there over Staubitz.....need to get these kids In there and get some experience....
@Cloud09 Abbott will not be an extra. Hes their top scoring forward.
@Cloud09 My forward lineup that wouldnt happen but i'd like it:
love the marlies playoff slogan "get the job done"......thats a stark contrast from the Leafs "when's tee time"
@Dangle_My_Berries I love the little monologue on the teams website.
If the plan is to march through the playoffs, it's gonna take a blue-collar, hard-working, no-quit attitude. Because there are no shortcuts to winning a championship. No excuses for coming up short. There is only one way to come out on top. Get the job done.
Good news guys! Battalion beat Oshawa in 4 games so looks like I'll still be working some radio broadcasts doing colour! My personal drive to the Memorial Cup continues!
@steele123 how did Dal'colle look?
During the regular season I wasn't a fan but he has been electric especially in this round against the Battalion. He should have had 3 or 4 goals in game 3 and scored gin in game 4. One knock I'd have is his build. Very slight frame that needs some serious time in the gym. I totally understand why he is going to be a top 5 pick.
@steele123 kadri clone?
It's a good thing for Dallas that they are not playing the Leafs with Drew MacIntyre in net.....or they would all be....well, who knows, as the Leafs seemed to not care about him either!
Wow, our draft history has not only been shotty, but for sucking as much as we'have the past 9 years we havent even had a high volume of picks. Essentially our quality and quantity are both lacking. Hoping Shanny can have an impact on this and if us leafs fans are going to have to watch a shit team during the season, at least give us lots of picks (and potential) at the Draft.
Sure we've drafted some decent players and got some late round steals (Gunner, Reimer) but Holy Fack when can we change the Drafting "Culture"! We have the most money and shout have the most and best scouts too, and be giving them the most bullets in the holster to pick prospects.
view with caution
@mlclearwater Pretty sad list. Last great Leaf pick looks like Damphousse all the way back in 1986!
I have to say though the current crop of prospects (2009 - Present) have just started to crack the roster and I would like to see how these Burke draft picks pan out before claiming them busts.
Name the last elite player the Leafs drafted? I can't? In my lifetime...let's go with 1980 to present....what impact players have we drafted? Clark, Potvin, Jonnson, Kabrale, Antripov, Poni, Boyes, Steen, Kadri, and Reilly? Maybe Stralman...he's playing regularly for years? 250 picks...and what? I bet you could find an elite or near elite player drafted on every other team in the League, and that list above, I would say Kabrale is the best...over Clark even?
@Cosmos1973 we drafted rask and traded him to the bruins
@Cosmos1973 iafrate was good
That's a bloody disgrace, a drafting nightmare.
I love the 1999 draft...only one player ever played NHL games...and I have never heard of him....Pierre Hedin?
